Title: Sand Blasting
Post by: Victor on August 06, 2015, 10:25:10 am
Does anybody know what the best thing to use on media or sand blasting an old caburator inside full of rust, like sand , walnut shells or other things.  Thanks

Have you tried soaking it in carburetor cleaner?  I'd caution against media blasting since there are many little orifices that might get blocked in the process, the only thing I would consider is soda blasting it.  Are you planning on using the carb?

Here's the carb cleaner I use, soak for 24+ hours: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/gunk-carburetor-parts-cleaner-complete-kit-cc3k/7040709-P?searchTerm=carburetor+cleaner

I agree with Tom - if you are going to use it as a carb, try soaking/brushing it.

If you are shining it up for display, I would personally lean toward soda blasting as well -  but check with whomever is doing your blasting.
