Title: Cavalier 72 Bottle Door Light Post by: mygoose101 on July 19, 2015, 09:09:11 pm Wanted to share. Props to Moondawg as he did this on a 72 he restored a few months ago. I believe he said he bought his light from China and in a roll. I also thought his light placement was different from what I did. Perhaps he can chime in.
Long and short it was a $30 investment and a 10 minute install. Simple and looks killer. It's a LED flexible light strip. Comes with 2 18" strips with a connector if using both strips which I did. Self sticking, just peel the backing. I'm not running the machine so the power cord is independant. A neater job would be to tie in the light to the power of the machine. I'm also not sure how it will hold once there is condensation in the machine but I'm sure it will still stick. What I even like about it even better then the light in a 81 is that the light is not at all visible. Totally hidden from the outside and because it's a LED it's brighter. I used some to add light to the trunk of my Spitfire. 15 minutes work and now I can find things if I'm ever stuck on the side of the road in the dark. I'll be adding the same for under the bonnet soon.

I have this outside and don't want it lit non stop and attracting bugs.

I have this outside and don't want it lit non stop and attracting bugs. Depends on the voltage. I like the idea of lighting up just when the coin is deposited. That would be quite the effect. When I get some time, I will have to look into doing that on my CS96. Do the leds come in various voltages? Title: Re: Cavalier 72 Bottle Door Light Post by: Rick_T88 on June 26, 2017, 03:31:21 pm The post says that the light strands are 18" long and that 2 strands were installed. The interior of the bottle door on a Cavalier 72 is only a little over 30". Do you somehow cut the strand to fit or leave lights unseen dangling inside the cooler? I also would like the LED lights to come on only after a coin is deposited, thus connecting it to the "Have a Coke" red circle. Not sure if the strand is compatible to 110 AC or if it is a DC system. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I told my friend Pierre what I wanted to do. I bought the supplies and he installed it. Took about an hour. Much of the time was trial and error where to put the lights. I really liked how it turned out. I will attempt to add a few before and after pics. Not sure if the site will let me due to sizing constraints.

Title: Re: Cavalier 72 Bottle Door Light Post by: Rick_T88 on August 01, 2017, 10:30:17 pm I wired it to the circuit that is energized when the red Coke circle light comes on after a dime is inserted and goes off accordingly. It took a few different ideas to find the right place where I got the most light with the strand being invisible. Had to use a little hot glue to hold it in place. I got the LED strand and transformer box off of eBay. All for about $15.
