Title: Tacky Ebay Listing to try to sell a machine... cmon Carl

I have never met the man, and I know everyone forms opinions but this latest ebay posting is a bit Tacky don't you think?

The cars prettier than the girl, yes girl.  I think she's younger than my kids.  That's pretty creepy.  I can see this guy saying "Honey, can you put on a bathing suit and stand next to daddy's machine?"  How hokey is that?  :help:

I was waiting for someone to bring this up.....I have nothing against models but they will never help a sale, only hurt it. I'm just surprised he of all people went this route. If he is as great as he thinks he is, his machines should sell themselves. Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

I saw it the other day.  I do like her shoes.  I bet no one else even looked at them...

Mygoose is correct.  If his reputation is so good, there is no reason to add sex to help sell.  It's like the guy on ebay selling all the signs with his faceless girl holding them.  He is using her "assets" to draw attention.  But if you ask him, he denies that being the reason.

I've noticed that many folks here don't seem to care for Carl.   Not sure why that is.  I've done business with him on multiple occasions and comes through every time.

Maybe its his use of crack models that rubs people the wrong way.

Read his eBay auctions. That should give you an idea why he is not liked. I must warn you though, you must give yourself about 2 hours to read.

Has anyone ever read ALL of his auction description before?

I can't get past the part where he describes himself as the best restorer in the world and that the rest of us are all cheaters, out to rip off the consumer.  :darn:

I don't know how the guy can work on machines using only one arm/hand, because he spends so much time patting himself on the back.  I really have read his ebay novel, but I took several naps and pee breaks along the way.  And, his "model" looks better going than she does coming.

(Sorry Cola, I just deleted and added to this post.)

I have over 100 feedbacks on E-bay, but nobody has ever responded using my first name.

All of his feedbacks printed in his listing begin with "Oh Carl".........................he wouldn't write those himself would he?

His 'sold' listings on his E-bay account are primarily 10 cent coupons from buyers who are no longer registered.  :glare:

I've often wondered how many machines he actually sells a year....his inventory of machines does not seem to change very often.

He chimes in sometimes on Facebook in Vintage soda machines page. (No, we are not Facebook friends or any other friends for that matter ). If someone is sharing a nice machine they picked up he has nothing positive to say he just jumps in offering to buy, restore, trade, or whatever else he does.

either way it's just weird...
don't get me wrong, I like pretty girls but this just is too much..

Regardless of the models. His entire auctions are about how honest he is and not to be fooled by everybody else and so on. Yet, he is selling both a Frostie and Orange Crush 81 and no where in all his BS does he state these are fantasy machines or that they were never made that way from the factory. He should explain it is a generic 81 that he turned into these 2 flavors just by using decals. He doesn't say if machines are embossed or non embossed. Your eBay customer I guarantee you will not know these are not factory machines. Buyer beware I guess Carl. "Oh Carl"

So are the models included with the machine?  That my big question.

We could really use some help around the house so we could have more time to shop for machines...

If you look through his current listings, you can notice that she has apparently had a little restoration work done herself. I wonder if Carl does that as well?

This is a serious question. I know eBay fairly well, but does anyone know how when I look up Coke machines in general how I can exclude his listings from showing up? For two reasons, first reason I don't need to see his listings. Honestly quite tired of seeing all his crap posted all over the website. Second reason, the other night I was looking at machines on the website and I happen to have a page that had most of his listings. My daughter walked up behind me and actually asked what I was looking at. Honestly I was embarrassed by it. Ridiculous.

Ray...you can determine the price range for his lowest price unit ($9,000) to his highest price ($100,000). So search from $100 to $8900 in your low to high search criteria in the advance search area and it will exclude his listings.

It's not perfect, but how many of us want to spend north of $9,000 on a machine anyways?

In looking at this again what is more offensive is $29,000 for 2 Pepsi 81's? $14,500 each with no best offer. Hi end for a Pepsi is $4,000. High end for a complete restoration is $4,000. That's $8,000. Leaves a $6,500 margin. Oh Carl.....

I'm sure he's only using these as free advertising for his business outside of eBay.  No sales, no eBay fees.  Hoping someone will come across his ads and say "wow those look good, maybe I should look this guy up and see if I can get a deal".

Hmm, I didnt know that spray painting a compressor "restores" it to better than new condition, must have magical pixie dust in the mix.   & the foam rubber gasket running over the line cover must be an original factory installed option I'm assuming.
