Title: Need advice on vendo v80
Post by: Bob K on March 17, 2005, 08:27:19 pm
Hi all:

I got a call on a Vendo V80 and got out to look at it today.  Machine is totally solid, zero rust inside and out, vends, cools, runs quiet, nothing missing.  The stainless (or aluminum?) panels are in extremely good shape - no dents or dings to speak of.  The paint is shot, it's been repainted by brush in areas.  It looks a mess but as I said you couldn't ask for a better restoration candidate.

He is stuck at $1,000.00.  I was looking to pay closer to $600.00 but I wanted to run it by you folks before I pass.

I snapped a picture:

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,
Bob

I'd probably go for it if it's near you and not requiring shipment.  Paint jobs aren't that expensive if you dissasemble the machine yourself.  Plus V80's are super cool because with slight modification they will vend cans.  Best of luck!

I agree. They aren't as valuable as many of the other round tops but I think it is the best looking by far. $1000 isn't too bad. Are you keeping the machine or wanting to sell it. If you are keeping it what is the machine worth to you?

Look at it like this.....Would you be kicking yourself in a few months?

That is a really nice looking machine and is a great size!
I agree with the others... if you can get it...do...  It's only going to go up in value!
And I'm sure you know how hard roundtops are becoming to find.

I like the size of the V80's, but I'm partial to a multi-vending machines, (can't see limiting myself to just "Coke" which is why I got rid of my Cavalier C51, nice but "boring" to me anyway.), but that aside, it's a popular machine, & a nice game-room piece with many people who are looking to get a "Coke" machine, I personally think $1K-Buck is a little high, I agree with you, around $800.00 would be more reasonable)... :drinkers:

Heya Bob,
Never pay more than you are comfortable with. I have found that a better deal usually comes around when buying vintage items. Just a thought. Terry

I agree with Johnie, single vend is boring at home after while.   But the plus side of the V-80 is that once painted it can be put in a retail establishment and charge .75 to $1.00 for a can of Coke.  This machine could pay for itself every year.
$800 is fair, I would only pay $1000.00 if it were a nice original, a lifelong indoor machine

If you decide not to go for it let us know.  If it's anywhere near Texas I may be interested.

Lonestar, I'm in MA.
I think I'll offer $800.00 and let it ride.  This machine was indoors its entire life, it was in this guy's family garage since new.

Thanks to all who offered their advice.  This is a great place to be  :)  .
