Title: Galvanize metal Post by: Victor on March 05, 2015, 04:24:25 pm What is a good chemical solution to take galvanizing coating off metal? (without sand blasting). I want to remove the Galvanizing to paint. Thanks, Victor in Michigan

the stronger the mix the faster it works... I use about a gallon in a 5 gallon bucket with water full and it takes anywhere from 20-30 minutes to get the galvanizing off.. then you have to rinse it and sometimes even wipe it down after a few batches as black crud will stick to it.. but dry them right away in the sun or heat gun so they don't flash rust.. I then dust them off in a blast cabinet before we powder coat them. or Paint in your case. Title: Re: Galvanize metal Post by: Victor on March 06, 2015, 11:01:24 am Thanks Everybody for the help
