How do I remove and replace Jones plug on my door?

The socket to the coin entry does not work. The one on the door to the vending door does work.

I removed the counter need to do something with those 2 wires. They were soldered into 2 of the wires to the plug.

How do i remove the liner to replace all this? And where can I get the electrical parts?

So where can I get a new Jones socket and new wiring to rewire the door?

I'll answer the electrical part. I know that Funtronics has the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) 9-Pin "Jones Plug" commonly known as a "Cinch Plug". They bought out Cavalier's stock when the closed. If you are going for a direct replacement that look exactly the same then that's who to order from. I have a local source that has a boatload of them for about $8. They don't have the full body that covers up the contacts on the bottom but does provide you with the option to use spade connectors instead of soldering. here
's a link to the SMC Photo Gallery to show you what I'm talking about: Jones Plug Replacement
This is a picture of my replacement jones plug for my Cavalier 55D restoration. For the wiring that goes through the metal plate on the liner your going to have to cut the wires. 16 gauge wire is what you should have and that should be used as the replacement. If you don't have an electronics/Ham radio supply house in your area, you'll have to go to Radio Shack......To replace the black wire covering, I use 2 to 1 heat shrink tubing. Again, in the lengths you would need, you have to get it from an electronics store.

When it comes time to actually begin replacing the wiring, I would recommend going "wire for wire". If you need any help finding any of this stuff and it becomes a huge burden (I'm not sure if Funtronics or Soda Jerk Works stocks any of this) I would be willing to help you put together the items that you need that you can't get.

Jasmine - I'm still not sure I understand what is working and what isn't, but before you start cutting wires... Have you checked voltage on all your connectors?   I believe you should be able to measure power on Pin #1 whcih would be the power source for changer.  Inside the assembly that holds the female connector you'll most likely find that the wire source is split to power your light fixture also.  If your getting power this far then you should check that the changer is sending the right signals back into the machines vending electronics.  You could do this at the female connector and inside the machine (like at the solenoid).  You basically want to trace the power as far along its path as you can.  Might save you a pile of work disassembling the door.

The pin info for the Jones plug is below (it include some of my notes on what color wire they map into for a coinco changer I had - you can ignore that part):

Pin#   Purpose                                                    Wire Color on my Coinco
1   117 VAC (Hot)                                        Blue
2    117 VAC (Neutral)                                        Red
3    VEND RELAY - NORMALLY OPEN                     Yellow
4    NC (No Connection)                            White
5    Exact Change - Normally Open (NEUTRAL)   Brown
6    (HOT) ACCEPT COINS                             Green
7    VEND RELAY-NORMALLY CLOSED (HOT)   Purple
8    NC (No Connection)

Thanks,
Looks like my weekend will be used tracing out what works and what doesnt.
That is after I go look at the chest coolers I got a lead on.

Kito, I don't have a prob when I link to it.....Hmmm.....Welp, maybe it would be better to give traditional directions until I work this link thingy out! Just go to the photo album and under "Soda Machine Restorations" check under my Cavalier 55D Restoration. There you will see all sorts of wonderful photos of my Cav 55D!

Brian,

I fixed the link; for some reason, it inserted an html tag which broke the link...
It works now.
