Title: Soda Post by: Kevin C on March 08, 2005, 08:53:30 pm Hello
it seems like the activity here has really picked up over the last few months. Well I know I am new but this FB is very active. This FB has a great group of posters! So what does everyone do for their real job? I am a contractor for home repair & air conditioning. I have the opportunity to check in here on the FB several times during the day from work. Why not post a picture of yourself so we can place a face with a post. The attached picture of me with my 16 year old son. This picture was taken after a HS Football playoff victory. So there I took the first step! Kevin Title: Soda Post by: on March 08, 2005, 09:43:53 pm Great idea Kevin!
I love it here and genuinely enjoy every single post. Here I am with my wife and two kids. I'm 36 years old. Title: Soda Post by: Creighton on March 09, 2005, 02:45:39 am I agree, this is a great place!!
Well there isn't one pic of Linda and I that we could agree was good enough to post. Here be a photoshop composite. Both images are from an Antigua vacation. I'm not really in the water (happy in a lawn chair on the beach). I'm 43 and work our small buisiness with some GPS consulting when the phone rings. Linda is full time GPS tech support and does all the designs/web page for the stamp thing. Looking forward to seeing the rest of you :-) Fun Post!! As I have said before I just graduated From Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I am a Commercial Pilot but I am going into the Air Traffic Control field. I am on a year waiting list to begin training, so right now I am an arcade tech and manager of a lazer tag arena.

I hope this posts, I have been having posting. Title: Soda Post by: BrianB on March 09, 2005, 03:06:12 pm Welp, thought I should contribute too! Here's a picture of me taken at a staff Christmas Party from 3 years ago (really current,eh?) when I was still on active duty with the Navy in San Diego. I now work for the Department of Defense as an Electronics Technician. I am one of 6 In-Service Engineering Agent's for the Navy Signal Processors program. Currently I am based out of NSWC Crane, Indiana and live in Bloomington, Indiana. I'm also still in the Naval Reserve, was a Sonar Technician for 12 years and have been a Master-At-Arms (Police, Anti-terrorism/Force Protection). for going on 3 years.

I'll post a pic as soon as my wife comes back with the dang camera from visiting her family in Brazil...that gives me about a week to find some more machines...she's been gone a month and I've picked up a couple of square tops.
Last year when she made the yearly visit home, I was able to pick-up a nice original Cavalier 72. She nearly killed me when she got back..now I am eyeing an unrestored Vendo 81D...if i get it, I know I will be in the dog house..which on further thought is not THAT bad....that's where all of my machines are! By the way, has anyone tried the Brazilian soft drink Guarana Antartica? That stuff is good!!!!! Also comes in glass bottles down there. Elliot aged 4 and Jessie 17 mths going on 17yrs. I am a Police officer and have been for 20yrs. I am currently training new recruits at Hendon Police Accademy. Also have a Genuine NY Walk-Don't walk sign (don't have them in UK) and a 1960's USPS Post Box. Taken from an Air Base when your boys started clearing out. Man, I hung my board a bunch of years ago....I guess breaking my tailbone kinda precipitated that. Tried dropping in on a HUGE half pipe in my buddies backyard when I had zero business doing it. I was more of a street rat and thought it would be cool to pull some Peralta-ish moves on a pipe. What a wake-up call that was!
Title: Soda Post by: on March 27, 2005, 10:58:04 pm Jim,
Nice gleaming of the cube. I used to shred in my past life too. Great photos. But you still haven't answered my age quesion. Boy have I used Jim's forgiveness strategy while filling my gameroom, home theater and now Coke Machine garage! Glad that I am still married. Title: Soda Post by: firemun on March 28, 2005, 12:08:51 am I have not taken a good photo since about...60lbs ago. Like Jim, most of my life was spent in the fire dept...with various other activities interspersed.
I went back to school in my late 20's, ended up doing some flammability research for NASA for a few years that contributed to the design of the fire suppression and detection system on the Int. Space Station. One degree led to another and in 1999 I took a position starting up and subsequently running a Fire Safety Engineering program at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte. My other hobby, trying to get my doctoral dissertation finished up. As for asking permission versus forgiveness…Calvin of Calvin and Hobbes fame once said “questions you already know the answer to...you don’t have to ask”. Such a true and perspicacious observation from such a young lad. Photo: Me and my kind, loving and mostly understanding wife. What kind of boat to you have? I live down on the SC coast & of course everyone has a boat. 23ft CC Key West with 250 Yamaha. So many toys & not enough time. What is a man suppose to do? Kevin Title: Soda Post by: on April 05, 2005, 08:35:56 am A man is supposed to install one of his vintage soda machines on his boat.
That's what a man is supposed to do. Title: Soda Post by: on April 05, 2005, 10:46:29 pm Pat, I only have live fish at the house. None hanging on the wall. And most of the fish (or lobsters) that come home only stay for dinner.
Kevin, I need to preface this with saying that my dear wife is very, very understanding. I am a bigger water junkie than a soda machine addict. I have a 22' Grady White Seafarer w/ a 488 Merc. I/O ( for going way offshore chasing fish), a 17' Boston Whaler Montauk w/ a 88hp Johnson (easy to trailer & drop in the bays & lakes), an 8' Basstracker w/ an electrtic motor (for the ponds near the house), and a pair of kyacks (thank God she also enjoys my hobbies, I love that girl). And living in SC, you at least have a longer boating season than we do up here in the Northeast. The ice just broke on all of the ponds last week, and the ocean has only warmed up to 40 degrees. Hopefully we will be out on the water within the next week or so!!!!! Title: Soda Post by: Creighton on April 06, 2005, 02:08:14 am Wow!

Good to have you here. FYI I tested some the army's weapons including a true warrior the M1A1 Abrams. It is a great machine that has proven itself in the no rules sand box. Kevin Title: Soda Post by: on May 06, 2005, 09:13:09 am The VMC33 is really nice but he will never get 2500$ for it.
Title: Soda Post by: 90grad on May 06, 2005, 09:27:32 am Kevin,
The first thing I tested when I started here was the M1A2. I spent 5 years basically living in that thing. Man, I love the Abrams. Lars, I agree. I very politely told them so and left my number. Coincidentally, the lady lives across the street from our former home. She is listing the machine for her boyfriend in Baltimore. She was very nice, but it seems they got some misinformation at some point. Oh well. I am still looking. Wayne Title: Soda Post by: Kevin C on May 06, 2005, 03:15:56 pm Wayne
I guess I was not a tester of the M1A1 but the proud owner of 14 of them with some of Americas best your men as crewmen. Nothing like rolling across county firing a 120MM cannon & hitting the target at 2200 meters everytime we fired. Even better firing at night because we could see & nobody could see us. Sorry just reliving something. So what kind of soda machine do you have? Kevin Title: Soda Post by: 90grad on May 06, 2005, 03:22:13 pm Kevin,
Hats off to you and a big debt of gratitude for serving our country. I only have a beat up Westinghouse Standard Ice Cooler. I can't seem to get my hands on a machine, but have had a few near misses. Wayne Title: Soda Post by: on May 06, 2005, 03:47:39 pm Better to have "near misses" with soda machines rather than with the M1A1 and M1A2's.
Title: Soda Post by: 90grad on May 07, 2005, 06:56:39 am 'kito,
You are right about that. The cool thing is those tanks don't miss much. They are, without a doubt, the finest in the world. I should restore my Westinghouse Standard in camoflage colors. Wayne Title: Soda Post by: sodaworks on May 07, 2005, 09:32:59 am Hello Wayne,
Westinghouse Standard in camoflage colors? That actually sounds pretty cool.....If I did that I bet my kids wouldn't drink so many soda's. Hmm.. Title: Soda Post by: joesquid on May 22, 2005, 06:30:12 am I'm Eric Johnson ("Joe Squid" is an old nickname acquired in my Navy carreer) 36, active duty Navy for 19 years this June. Started off as a nuclear engineer serving onboard the Los Angeles Class submarine, USS INDIANAPOLIS (SSN-697), got in trouble (errors of our youth ) tranferred to salvage Navy (that was FUN!!) served onboard USS RECLAIMER, (ARS-42) and USS SALVOR (ARS-52), participated in deepest salvage operation in the world, transferred to gas turbine propulsion field after four years in the salvage fleet, serving in both Operation Just Cause (Noriega removal) and first Gulf War. Served onboard the plankowner crew of USS RAINIER (AOE-7). I'm currently employed as the leading Gas Turbine Chief onboard the Navy's newest Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer USS FARRAGUT DDG-99, currently under construction in Bath, Maine.
Yet my greatest adventure is still being a husband to my wife, Erin (very patient woman) and father to my three kids, Devin (7), Eli (3), and Lanna (1). Got started with coke machines when my church gave me an old one to tinker with. My associate pastor (and good friend) knew I collected coke stuff and as they say, the rest is history. Title: Soda Post by: joesquid on May 22, 2005, 07:03:42 am Here's a pic of what will be the mightiest warship in the fleet next year (yeah, I'm just a little proud). I know, I'm going to catch some flack for this but no, it doesn't have any felt. The machine is in semi-original paint from probably the 1960s and it looks as though a case was always kept on top of the machine. The paint up there is ruined anyway so I gently place a case up there just for show. Believe me, I'm not going to damage the paint up there any further, it's as bad as it gets already. Eric, About 5 years ago I did a bunch of flammability tests for the Office of Naval Research. I was testing a vinyl ester composite that was going to be used to help make the substructure of the next generation destroyers. It was pretty much the same materials that were used on the stealth planes...just without the halonagated compounds in them. Any chance there is some of my work on that one or do you know? Jeff Title: Soda Post by: sodaworks on October 01, 2005, 09:45:09 pm Jeff,

It's entirely possible that some of those "products" might show up in a test on the final ships in the Arliegh Burke Class or even the LPD-19 Class. I'm pretty sure that they were intended for what the Navy calls "DD(X)" or the "Next Generation Destroyer". I work for the Department of the Navy as an Electronics Technician, primarily working with surface ship sonars and am also 14 year veteran of the Navy, 10 active and the past 4 reserve. Flammability and fires are near and dear to every Sailors hearts. Just like every Soldier and Marine is a rifleman, every sailor is a firefighter! Any questions? "Ya know who Rodney Mullen is? He was my lab partner in high school. I used to watch him practice all the time. Title: Soda Post by: Jim on October 03, 2005, 08:56:22 pm I definately know who Rodney is!
I saw him skate as a youngster in Ft. Lauderdale many years ago... At one time, he was one of the best free-style skaters in the world! Since you brought up the subject, I'm gonna brag a little about my 9 year old daughter that's been in four competitions in the last year & a half and has placed in the top three in every one. We' in the process of building a half-pipe in the back yard so she can really hone her skills. Oh yea, so I can have a little fun too! Sorry for going off on a tangent... I look forward to meeting you in person soon. In the meantime, if you want to see me, go to the first page of this thread. Thanks for reviving this Soda Family Photo Album. Title: Soda Post by: dr galaga on April 10, 2006, 04:27:37 pm Thanks SIGNGUY for posting. I just got out of radio this past year after working for over 15 in the non-commercial market (rock music, not NPR). The JACK-FM format is kind of decent, but I don't like the way that it is marketed - I think it makes broadcast radio look bad. But that's a topic for another day...

So here goes. This is me and my youngest on holiday last year. We're at Rippleys Aquarium after just being soaked by some "naughty" flatfish. Dave. Looks like that photo was at Boardwalk at the Beach. Great photos Dave, looks like the kids were having fun. jeff Title: Soda Post by: davethebirdman on April 12, 2006, 01:53:04 am Hi Jeff
Yep Broadwalk at the Beach just before we had a Fudge Sundae that went everywhere. Can't beat Rippley's we visited it twice and my five yr old takes the guidebook with him wherever he goes. I think he might end up being a marine scientist as a result of that trip. Keeping me happy in my old age. Dave Title: Soda Post by: on April 12, 2006, 06:33:18 am O.k., I might as well update now.
The first is the little one. Next, I am with the other two, taken on the one sunny, non-raining, non-flooding, non-mudsliding day on our Kauai trip a few weeks ago: Title: Soda Post by: firemun on April 12, 2006, 06:42:26 am Great photos Kito....I am surpised the "little one" has a hat on...I thought the whole "stuff on the top" was a deeper obession than just machines.
