I have a question regarding the slug rejector from my V81A. It has a National Rejectors 600 series dual rejector (692). On one side it has a part that is appears to be a thin flat spring with a tapered pin on one end and the other end is riveted at the top. It appears to have to do something with the dime part as the pin is near the area that the dime comes thru. My question is if the flat spring is supposed to be straight and allow the pin to be inside the rejector? Mine is bent out and does not appear to do anything.

No expert, but I believe that is suppose to be a anti-washer catcher (a coin sized slug made out of a ground down bolt-washer) it would have caught it (the washer) by snagging the hole in it's center (as opposed to letting a "solid" disk, ( or even an old Chinese coin with a hole in the middle I suppose)  :oops:

Sounds reasonable. On the other side there is an aluminum sheet metal part that is just loosely hanging on. It has what looks to be a burnt area under it. I think it was for the heater but not sure. And does it have any effect on the function of the slug rejector?

It is in fact a washer retaining spring and should be straight with the pin sticking through the hole on the dime scavenger plate. The pin would catch washers and also push smaller items through the main plate. It can be tricky to get just right - too firm and it will stop the dime. I usually remove it on restorations.

OK, I will just leave it alone since it doesnt seem to be causing a problem. What about the aluminum sheet piece on the other side? Is it the retainer for the heater? Should I just remove it? I looked at some pictures of other slug rejectors and did not see it. It is located above the NR decal and looks burned under it.

You can remove it. Most people disconnect the heater anyway for home use.
