Title: Early Coca Cola Signs
Post by: coke_and_stuff on August 05, 2014, 10:40:53 pm
Just got back from a week long trip in Iowa. I picked these up while there.

The top one is a NOS 1922 never hung tin tacker. paper marks are present, killer piece!

Bottom Sign is a 1908 this makes #6 on the 1908s that I've owned!

Nice! I really like the smaller sign. Where'd you find them?  (Don't say "Iowa").  :)

I'm just amazed to see that the price of Coke in 1908 until 1950's was 5c.  No inflation for the forty plus years?  Yes, there were two major wars and a depression, but still no increase??

Interesting observation Larry. It may be coincidence but didn't labor unions start controlling private buisnesses in about the 50's ?

And now I can understand why, using statistics, that most early coin mech.s were designed to accept a maximum of only 10 cents.

There are a few online articles about the 5 cent price. They all mention contracts with the bottler and vending machines.

Interesting article.  Thanks for posting.  A blank bottle, what a scam that was.
