Title: "Broke" EBay Coinco S75-9800B repair question.....
Post by: addamb on June 27, 2014, 06:17:31 am
I picked up a "broke" 9800B on EBay yesterday for $30 shipped. The seller claims in the auction that it works fine, but he can't set it for any denominations that end in 5. Which I’m not too concerned with because i planned on charging $0.10 anyways like the original deal on mine says so it's still worth my $30.00. However I’d still like it to work 100% weather I’m using that function or not and I’m thinking it could be something as simple as he didn’t realize he needs to have the first dip switch on to "add" $0.05 to the denomination, or maybe a cold solder joint on the back of the switch block for switch #1. But since i don’t' have it in my hand yet it's hard to tell if it's something more.

Does anyone have experience with this specific issue that may be able to give me some suggestions?

Hopefully it's just something wrong with the DIP switch itself, you could solder a new one in fairly easily.  Could always be one of the counter microswitches or something else random as well, feel free to post your questions here once you get it, i have revived a few from the dead over time.

So a little update for you. I got the "broke" mechanism in the mail yesterday, plugged it in, and everything worked just fine! All the dip switches worked, and everything did what it was supposed to. So i'm guessing the guy didn't understand how to set the switches, or they were "dirty" and by me cycling them i cleaned the internal contacts. Either way i'm ecstatic i got this for a total of $30!!!
