Title: Ideal 55 Slider cooling coil soldering Post by: wjheil on May 31, 2014, 05:40:07 pm HI,
I am trying to restore an Ideal 55 Slider. The coil has come completely loose from the metal cooling tank. I have cleaned the tank and the tubing but I am having a difficult time trying to solder the copper tubing back to the tank. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Ideal 55 Slider cooling coil soldering Post by: kbareit on June 01, 2014, 02:15:39 pm I use foil tape. Home depot or Lowes carries a 3" roll rated for cold weather. Put a layer on the tub where the coil will come in contact with it,then set the coil and use a few strips to hold the coil in place and then completely tape it in. I use a Bondo spreader to press the tape in place and smooth it out for better adhesion.

The tape will hold pretty well then? -Wayne |
