Title: Were there different Shades Dr. Pepper Green used in the late 50's? Post by: mojorob on May 06, 2014, 06:47:38 pm I have a Generic VMC-81 Machine I was getting ready to restore into a Dr. Pepper Machine.
I'm pretty much already to go I just have to find the right color green for the base unit. When I pull up image seaches on the Internet, I notice there seems to be various different shades of green that are being used. Is there one Green in particular that can be verified as the Original Dr. Pepper Green, or were the originals all over the place color wise also? Contact Rod at Funtronics as I think he has done a few Dr. Peppers and I'm sure he could get you a code.. Title: Re: Were there different Shades Dr. Pepper Green used in the late 50's? Post by: collecture on May 15, 2014, 06:53:00 pm When I did my WB-60, I had them use the inside strip of my original DP VMC-110 as a sample. They custom made the color, so I do not have that code.
I do have a print out from someone that says the correct code is DuPont G5237K for the mint green and 7666K for the darker green. PPG brand is 44565 for the mint green. Not sure of the correctness of either, but I kept it for some reason. Title: Re: Were there different Shades Dr. Pepper Green used in the late 50's? Post by: brasskey on May 16, 2014, 05:56:31 pm I'm like collecture. When restored my Atlas Model 5, I had them custom match the green behind the coin mech that had never seen the light of day. Try to see if you can find a spot that's been covered up. Maybe behind the tag plate or breaker strips.

Post by: Blind1968 on May 22, 2014, 10:49:54 pm Has anyone thought to take all these all the different paint codes and put them on a spread sheet on the site? Every time someone posts a color code I try to write it down somewhere. Problem is when I need to reference it I can never seem to find it. Just a thought

Post by: MaineT on May 23, 2014, 10:22:57 am I brought a DP cooler to napa and they did that computer "match" and it couldn't come up to a close enough match to the original so they said they wouldn't normally do it. (something about a plus or minus of 1-2 is acceptable match "code", the match came back at 3.) I only want to paint the cover of the cooler. I had them do it anyway, what the heck? It is way off the original. If doing the whole thing, you could get away with it.
