Title: How to clean up the textured lid for a GBV-50? Post by: autobon7 on April 30, 2014, 08:47:45 pm Just bought a GBV-50 that cools but is missing the coin mech and slider. Just looking to clean it up and sell it. The textured lid had something spilled, caked, corroded, or maybe stained on it. I have tried every cleaner I have to no avail. Is there something I can use that will not damage the lid? It seems like it's made of aluminum because it's kinda pliable. Maybe very thin stainless? I just didn't want to use something like a soft brass wheel and damage it.......make it look worse than it is. I have included a couple pics as well as a nice picnic cooler I picked up on the same day.

You need to keep the area wet for a few hours, scrub with a nylon brush Perhaps, keep the lid level, pour some liquid on the area and keep a saturated rag covering this area to avoid evaporation... All my stainless steel parts go through a thorough soaking in Simple Green prior to any buffing or plating. Truth be told, Simple Green will actually remove small amounts of rust too! Post by: autobon7 on May 01, 2014, 04:07:59 pm I did try barkeepers friend and it didn't faze it. Tried a label and sticker remover (even though it's not adhesive.....no dice. I will give Simple Green a shot this weekend.

I use it on stainless,copper and aluminum with great results. You should be able to find it at most auto supply stores.
