Title: Royal Crown Cooler
Post by: jbrooks on April 11, 2014, 09:39:38 pm
It's a little rough and the tray and drain plug are missing but when I saw this at the Englishtown swap meet today I had to bring it home.

Nice one, would like to pick up an RC one day.  Have you tried pulling up the lid handle to see if it'll pop back?

I've got one of those. The lids are very playable and the turn heads if you actually take them to the park full of picnic stuff.

With the weight of it you would need to employ a couple of people to assist you carrying it full though...

Dave,

I couldn't agree more about the weight. I could not imagine carrying it full of ice drinks and food....yikes.

one way to pop the lid is to heat it up then put a wet towel on it to cool down.  Keep doing this a few times and eventually the metal will shrink enough to where it won't dent in.  If you plan on restoring it, I would try it but leaving as is, the paint may not like it too much
