Title: Best Way To Reattach This
Post by: HowDueYouDue on April 09, 2014, 08:13:14 pm
It's the arm that catches the nickel in my stamp vending machine and not sure of the material.

Thank you

it's probably pot metal, I have used the 2 part JB weld in the past. It holds up pretty good.

Thank you. Looks simple and cheap enough to give it a shot.

Agree on trying JB Weld.  I've used it many times over the years when non-structural pot metal pieces (usually made from unobtanium) are broken during a car restoration.  It's good stuff.

I've had good luck drilling a few small diameter shallow holes in each side to give the JB Weld a little extra grip and stress resistance.

Thank you. I will give it a try.

So I'm 0 for 4 with the JB weld. As you can see in the pic above its on an angle and I have to hold it in place to ensure the nickel drops in it right.

Did the prep right, it starts to hold, and then the slightest move on my part and it breaks apart. Tried bracing it, but no go.

Any thoughts on a better way to apply it or another option given the angle and needing to ensure alignment?

Thank you

Duct tape and cardboard? You need something like a splint to hold it in place...

What about those little mini racheting hand clamps. It has a trigger that makes the clamp tighten, I bought one at sears. That would hold it in place till JB is dry.

Small metal brace across the top that you could drill two holes on either side and tap for a screw?
