Go to YouTube and search for Midnight Special - remember that 70's show? Burt Sugarman and Wolfman Jack?
There are two sets of Greatest Hits sorted by year (1973-1980). First set is labeled by the year (1973,1974, etc.) and the second set is called (More 1973, etc.).
We have owned all the discs for a few years now and we love to put them on during parties. It is a lot of fun to see the fashion and the bands.
Some guy (user Pied Piper)has uploaded about 5-6 full length discs - about an hour long each and it is pretty good quality.

Wow, thanks for posting this.  I loved that show.  That is when live music was actually live!!  You have to love Billy Preston's hair....

I've been watching them for awhile on YouTube.  One day I was like "Hmmmmm...I wonder if anyone ever loaded up any of the Wolfman."  Sure, enough, there were a few segments.  It was my favorite music show back then (not counting the Partridge Family  :tounge:). I remember when Nugent hosted the Midnight special and AC/DC did Sin City.  What a show.  

Peter Criss's raspy vocals of Black Diamond was also one of my favorites back in the Kiss days of my youth.

Then again, Don Kirshners Rock Concert was pretty good too.    I also remember watching Kiss on Kirshners show.  All that's left now is Saturday Night Live and pop tunes.

I've been checking out some of John Peels tapes, for Tyranosaurus Rex, the Cure, and other Brit bands.  I'm sure Dave remembers John Peel.  Another favorite was the BBC King Biscuit Flour Hour (unless that was just an American name for the broadcast).  Another good radio broadcast never the less.  Memories...I feel old now.

thanks for sharing. great music and not all the lip syncing and fake instrumentals. I need to get a jukebox one of these days and load it up with these 70's hits.

The wife and I just went to a concert in January put on by Jim Peterik of the Ides of March and later Survivor. He has been doing this
once a year for the last 12 yrs. He calls it Jim Peteriks World Stage. This year one of his guests was David Pack of Ambrosia. They were another
group that was featured on Midnight Special a couple of times. Some of Peteriks'  guests  the last few years  have been Kelly Keaghy(Night Ranger), Mike Reno
(Loverboy),and  Rick Emmit(Triumph), and of course the Ides of March (50 years together this year)among others. Always a great concert. Not a person
under 45 in the audience, lol.

One of the MS discs (1978 I think?) does have Nugent (with Steven Tyler) introducing AC/DC and "Sin City".
There was the BBC Rock Hour (Britain), King Biscuit Flower Hour (USA) and Westwood One In Concert, which were all radio programs and not televised. I am pretty sure John Peel was a televised program. There is The Old Grey Whistle Test program and The Beat Club (German Show) and there are compilation DVD's on Amazon of these shows.

I am not sure what I like most about these - the performances or the fashion? :laugh:

Gotta love the hippy look or the glam rock look with the twelve inch heels.  :biggrin:  Never liked the disco era.

I still have pictures of my brother in white/blue striped bell bottoms.  What a lady killer he was.  :biggrin:

I never heard of the german show, but I do recall some excellant footage of Faces, Deep Purple, and Scorpion (early years) from Germany.  I will have to look up some more Youtube videos.

I have a class photo from like 5th or 6th grade where I am wearing white/blue striped bell bottoms...too funny!!

That reminds me of how old I am , I still have my high school picture in my big collar blue silk shirt . Those were the days.

Since the discusson on old stuff, the BBC and such. I've go to throw my hat hat in the ring with 2 of my all-time favorites from my youth. Monty Pythons Flying Circus, and The Benny Hill Show. They were awesome!
