Title: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question? Post by: mojorob on February 07, 2014, 10:36:07 am A few days back I was able to purchase a VMC Generic 81 form a local guy here in town.
I was just wondering ..... by looking at the Machine Tag on the unit, is there anyway at all to tell when it was manufactured? The Serial No. Is: 10375141 I know what to look for on the Vendo Units, but this is my first VMC machine. Thanks for any help! Title: Re: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question? You may luck out and find a label inside somewhere with an inspection date or build date, but if not...:( Title: Re: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question? It had even been sand-blasted already, so it really is nothing to look at at this stage. No doubt someone else's started project that lost interest somewhere along the line. The inside housing, had also been powder coated. It had been sitting in a back corner of the guys shop I purchased it from for the past 7-8 years. Sorry about that ..... no eye candy on this one just yet. (http://photos.imageevent.com/ltsgallery/memberfoldersko/mojorob/mojorob/websize/IMG_0300.JPG) Title: Re: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question? Thanks for the picture... looks like I got put in my place. What are your plans for the generic? Dr Pepper machine or a fantasy? :happydrinkers: Title: Re: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question? A Dr. Pepper would certainly be nice, but they do look a bit generic to me ...... not much of a WOW Factor involved there. That FROSTIE version, is what pushed me over the edge to actually purchase the machine. I love the looks of that one, but just not 100% sold that I possibly wouldn't grow tired of it. I'd really like to do a white top 7-UP Machine, but with out the embossed door, I'm not sure how I would ultimately feel about it. It's hard for me to justify that extra 3 or 4 grand for that darn door, but that embossing does kind of make it. Decisions, Decisions .... at the very least, I figured it would be a good machine to have until I figure out exactly what I'd like to do. Title: Re: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question? Post by: cokecolaman on February 09, 2014, 05:49:29 pm I have a squaretop 7up 81 embossed that I would be willing to chop up, if you are interested...I know it wouldn't be "real", but it would save you $4000.
I also have two fantasy 81's and they are my favorite machines (Orange crush and Squirt). If I can get another generic, I'm thinking about doing a Mountain Dew 81...I might even chop up a Vendo 81 to do it. Title: Re: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question? Post by: Eric on February 13, 2014, 09:22:41 am There are so many awesome logos to small brand sodas out there. I think leaving it as a
generic and look up some of the lesser known brands or maybe there was a drink in your area or even your childhood that you could create you own one of a kind machine. The Orange Crush and Squirt machines are really nice examples. Title: Re: VMC-81 Date Of Manufature Question?
