Title: Ideal 55 Slider - Royal Crown
Post by: johnh on January 13, 2014, 12:55:33 pm
I'm new at looking for machines and prices, but kind of like this one. Is $875 a fair price?

Thanks,

John

Probably a fair price since it is complete - if it really cools.  There's a difference between the compressor coming on and it actually cooling.

It should clean up nicely and look good once the letters are painted. But since it's you that has to do this, it's better to try and stay under the $500 to $600 mark on this or any unrestored slider. Seller will see your point.

Personally, if I wanted it I would try to get it for $500 - IF it cools - based on his comments about labor involved in re-painting and general clean-up.   Likely settle somewhere in between.

However - at $850 if it cools that is still a fair price in my opinion, it's just not the bargain of the year.

That pricing is assuming of course this is for you, not trying to flip it.  Decent price for a collector, not for a quick flip.

Its not a horrible price, but of all of the sliders that I see sit around unsold the longest, they Royal Crown cola is up there with the 7up and the generics. With the condition of the inside on the rack you may want to look at it in person and feel this one out to make a fair offer. Make sure its cooling and not the compressor just working or you may end up parting it out.

I agree with MainT. I know of at lease 3 RC 55s they want more for them and there all missing the rack and coin mech and 1 is also missing the shelf .

thanks for all the advise, I think I will wait on getting a second project. I'm still working on my first restoration and have a lot of work left on it.
