Did any one see the RC 81 that Lloyd sold last week it brought $8200 for it does anyone think that was a good deal. I know they are hard to come by. What are they going for restored? I don't know how to post link to his site but it is coinopwarehouse/ Facebook

If it was complete and even just average condition I would call it a very good/great deal. I rather have a original then restored. I think it would be hard to sell a restored one for what it is worth $14,000 est. because people are afraid of it being a fake.

Lloyd told me it was missing the coin mech and needed alot of work but was the real deal . think he said it was painted red.

Does anyone know how many RC 81 were made?

I believe only 200 where made

I sold mine in 2012 to Rick Dale for $9500 and was complete but unrestored in good condition. He had to pay shipping to Vegas from Indiana though. I would say that was an average deal and a fair price.

what are you basing the figure of 200 on ?

Where did Jeff get this number from? Pure speculation no one knows. There was no record kept by VMC.

I tend to think that the 200 number is something that keeps getting passed down from collector to collector..... kinda like a urban myth / legend. Could there of been just 200 made ? Sure!..... could there have been 400 made?  Just as likely... I mean, who knows?!?  There were MANY less of the RC 81s than the Cokes... but how many made?  I guess we will all find out once we meet our maker.

As to the number of RC-81's built, I can tell you this. When my machine was listed for sale, I was contacted by a gentleman from Alabama that was interested in the machine but didn't have the money to buy it just yet. He was an avid collector of RC Cola product including the 81's. He said that He had been keeping track of all the machines and their serial numbers that have sold in the last 20 years and wanted to know mine. After telling him my number he called back and said it was within the 200 range of the earliest and or latest number that he's acquired over the years of machines that have sold or knew of. He said he has about 75 numbers currently in his database of RC-81's. I doubt we will ever know but the 200 number seems reasonable.

Let's go with 211 because what these machines are going for it should be robbery. :biggrin:

Vintage..... do you still have this list of 81 serial numbers?  It would be interesting to see it.... or at the least, if you could tell us the first and the last numbers collected?
