Got your message on these .. I'll check what I have too and call you later. John Title: Re: WANTED: 110 bottle gates Post by: collecture on January 06, 2014, 07:41:50 pm Thanks for the PM's and responses.
Was hoping not to have to buy another complete stack as I have everything else, but the plating company screwed up the gates. A couple of you have indicated that you might have just what I need, so I'll see how these members pan out before I resign to a whole stack. Good news is I left the damaged pieces with the plating company and they say that they have the process figured out now and won't charge me on the next batch. Brian, I have never restored a stack, but was just seeing what was involved and what I could do with one as well as the costs involved. Originally they had some type of plating on them as I could see an iridescent hue on them. I've been taking bits and pieces in with my coin mech stuff for the last few runs. I have my shafts nickel striked before then zinc plating, which protects the pot metal collar on the shaft. I thought that I could do the same with the gates, but the process didn't work. The plating company has it right now, but my pieces are unusable. I'd just like to find more 110 gates to finish the job. Title: Re: WANTED: 110 bottle gates Post by: SIGNGUY on January 07, 2014, 09:24:24 am I have had mixed results...I used to plate all the time on the gates, but since losing my local plating company, the new one I have tried screwed it up and is unwilling to work with me to get it right..
so lately I have cleaned and painted and cleared the gate part and polish the stainless roller... Title: Re: WANTED: 110 bottle gates Post by: BrianS on January 08, 2014, 12:49:24 am Its been a while since I did my first and only stack rehab. They were my favorite part of the whole restoration. Loved the mechanical nature of how it functioned. The bottle gate and the attached gate arm were the most challenging part. I ended up taking the gate off the arm, the roller out of the gate, and redid each part separately. John (Signguy) actually helped me out with a gate when I busted one driving the roller pin out. Putting the gates back on the arm was a challenge as the step rivet was not available at the time. SodaJerkWorks now offers that piece.
