Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: SIGNGUY on December 30, 2013, 10:18:50 am what do you need help with?
the screw I believe is a standard size.. Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: Larry on December 30, 2013, 10:53:32 am The screw needs a shoulder. If you use a regular screw, the threads can cut into the pump arm linkage.
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: SIGNGUY on December 30, 2013, 11:09:42 am Yeah, what Larry said... forgot about that part.. been a while since I looked at mine.. sorry
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on December 30, 2013, 06:17:02 pm Ya if you just put a standard threaded screw it will continue to tighten as it pumps . I was looking for type of screw and length .
Thanks Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: Larry on December 30, 2013, 06:47:08 pm Let me move a few things and I'll take the screw out and shoot you a picture, get you the thread size, and length. I'll do it after dinner.
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on December 30, 2013, 07:02:34 pm Sounds good . Thanks
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: Larry on December 30, 2013, 09:01:35 pm Sorry,
I could not get to it. I thought I could get to it from the side but the pump is in the back and I can't get to it. There should be someone, on this site, who can access their machine. If not, I'll have to wait for my son to get off work to help me move it. Storms are coming in and I'm hurting. I can't move it right now. Sorry again. Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: Slapshot42 on December 30, 2013, 09:53:37 pm Is there a manual that may have the screw size, and length?
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on December 30, 2013, 11:09:30 pm No problem . I will just try a few shoulder bolts and see what works . With the shoulder bolt it can't go in further than where the thread stop .
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: Jim on December 31, 2013, 09:00:52 am Here's what my setup looks like...
It's an 8-32 x 3/4" but has a small roller collar sleeve as pictured, but I'm sure something easy can be found to function... Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on December 31, 2013, 10:25:16 am A shoulder screw will work if I can find one.
Is your screw fully threaded with the collar ? Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on December 31, 2013, 04:04:10 pm Tried a few screws and a flange bearing but can't get the right length of screw or flange . I did get the pump freed up .
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: johnieG on December 31, 2013, 04:20:12 pm looks like you could use a bronze bushing plus a nut and a screw. I've seen small flanged bronze bushings at Home Depot in the hardware drawers.
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on January 11, 2014, 04:31:03 pm Ok got everything adjusted and working . Now I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the dep of the oil basket . I feel like the popcorn is being cooked in to much oil making the popcorn a little greasy . The manual shows where the screws are but not how to properly adjust them or how . It says the corn should be cooked in a 1/8'' of oil .
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: BrianB on January 14, 2014, 08:46:27 pm The adjusting nuts are located on either side of the Oil Cup. From the factory they are brass knurled nuts and can be loosened to lower the Oil Cup thereby changing the depth of oil in the Cooking Basket.
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on January 14, 2014, 09:31:30 pm Ok . So it is the oil cup that the heater is submerged in. Do you know about how low to drop it ? Right now it's flush (tight as it will go )
Thanks Vince Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: SIGNGUY on January 15, 2014, 09:24:27 am Its a matter of trial and error... I've restored a few of these and each one had different sized or shaped oil cups..
I'd think that flat flush up against the top is too far.. so try lowering it 1/8 inch or more and try again... it's all a matter of trial and error to get it where you like it.. Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: Larry on January 15, 2014, 05:44:45 pm Mine have always been flush with the top. The oils the flavor. Let it soak in it. Mmmmmmmmmm oil!!
Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: SIGNGUY on January 16, 2014, 09:33:00 am I looked at mine last night and I have about a 1/4 gap from the top of my pan to the bottom side of the cabinet..
I put a flashlight in and I have the heater just submerged a little bit from the top of the oil.. I'd say I have about 1/8" of oil on top of my heater.. seems to work fine for me.. Good luck! Title: Re: Popperette oil pump Post by: zadd on January 16, 2014, 11:03:56 am Thanks . That's what I was worried about the heater not being submerged completely .
