Title: Removing outside trim pieces
Post by: BryanH on February 04, 2005, 05:21:38 pm
This is a pic of the upper left corner of the machine. The trim runs ouside the entire main door.  I can't figure out how the trim is attached. It's pretty scratched up so it needs to come off?  Anybody dealt with this before?

It's held on by clips that attach to a channel that runs along the back of the trim, it should "Pop" right out of the holes in the door edge. use a stiff, large bladed putty knife & slide it in between the trim & the door-edge, this will help you locate the clips, then you can get behind it with the putty knife & pop it off. you could use a large screwdriver, but be carfull not to dent the trim ( once you locate the clips)...

I had a vendorlator 56 that they were all held on by screws. If that is your case you will have to remove the back of the door and remove all of the insulation to get to the screws. I had someone want to buy the molding from me and I turned them down it was so hard to get to. I ended up junking the machine.

Got lucky - mine just had clips.  The trim is off.  I preserved most of the clips but have never seen anything like the trim before.  Don't think I'll bother trying to replace... just fill the holes and repaint it.

Thanks for the tips...
