      Nice stuff guys.......but I'm a little confused.

Is a popcorn warmer also referred to as a popcorn machine because it accepts coins to vend?

Title: Re: Looking for popcorn machines?
Post by: MaineT on November 26, 2013, 02:56:44 pm
I would put it all in the popcorn machine category, but not the popcorn warmers in the popcorn popper category.

Kind of like putting a coke machine in the antique category. Its less then 100 years old but most would say antique.

I like the trash can on yours did it come with it or did you have to make it.

Title: Re: Looking for popcorn machines?
Post by: PopcornShop on November 27, 2013, 03:22:55 pm
That trash can is one that I reproduced.. Its just like the original.. the only difference is I used a bit heavier gage metal.. side by side you cant tell the difference.. While most of the machines I have had them there was always a few that didn't.. Do you happen to have any pictures of your machine?  I like the color of your machine..very nice..

I came across this one locally in a storage unit.

Anybody know anything about these.  I posted about  year ago with very little responses.  Figured this thread I might have some help.

Its a Popmatic 24A. missing the cast top.

Thanks , great thread on the various poppers...

I've never seen one like that.  It's big but has a great look about it. I think it would look awesome restored. Anyone have any idea what year?

Post by: SIGNGUY on December 02, 2013, 11:11:25 am
its definitely a Popmatic for sure... if it's has the base, I'd be interested in it..
it's missing the top, which unfortunately takes away the value.. unless he has it packed away in one of those boxes.

I'd be interested in hearing more about it if you still have access to it..

I have a few restored popperettes I would be willing to trade one. my email is harleyrider9228@aol.com

Well if that doesn't get someone to buy it. I will. That machine is awesome. Nice pic. That thing makes a popperrette look like a joke.

It might look like a joke, but they are still awesome.. I had the opportunity to try one in Chicago, man its great popcorn. Nice size too leaving room for other machines.

Yes Restored in that Crème and Red color is really sharp.

I have only owned one, but lets just say it needed a little work.. and it was a later model with a different coin mech..  I sold it at Chicago last year. 1st picture

the 2nd picture is of one that one of our Sponsors owned at one point and sold.

The 3rd pick was for sale a few years back on Craigslist in Milwaukee... but I think it ended up at the Chicago show and sold.

and the last one 4th photo, the black and silver one I had a chance at a few years back but missed out on it..

Those are very cool machines.. Is the popcorn cooking method the same as the popperrettes?  Im guessing like an oil vat type deal?  signguy you should just sell me your minit pop..lol..

Personally, I like the look (and taste) of the Popperette the best.  The corn was the best I ever had at Larry's in Chicago (thanks Larry!).

The Popmatic is a joke. So there!

OK...just kidding.  I'd be proud to own either!

You're welcome Bob.  Stop by anytime.  Maybe I can start a mail order buisness.

Years ago I chated with one of the relatives of a distributer that handled these machines.  He sent me a picture of his family by the Popmatics back in the day when they sold these.  That picture has popped up numerous times since then.  I don't have the image on this computer but here is a link from 4 years ago.  You can see the picture there.

http://soda-machines.com/discussions/index.php/topic,10390.0.html

This place had a few of them in the rough years ago.  I looked at their site many moons ago and they had pictures of the popmatic and a few other machines.  Now they just have a lame video.  Here's the link.  Their Auto Pop is cool looking.

http://www.wyandotpopcornmus.com/

When I first contacted them trying to find any information on the Popperette (at that time their zero info on the net) they informed me that they didn't know what a Popperette was.  When I sent them pictures they asked me if I wanted to donate my machine.  I asked them if they wanted to donate their Popmatic to me.  Needless to say, neither of us donated anything.

For being a Popcorn Museum,, they sure don't have much to show off.. sure some of the early Cretors machines are cool but even in the video the guy doesn't know the difference between a Popcorn Warmer and a Popcorn Maker....

Again, there is more knowledge with this group than anywhere else when it comes to Vintage Vending apparatus's..   Now if we can just figure out how to capitalize on that and all retire! :happydrinkers:

Ha ha well he originally was asking 3500.. Now he has up it to 5500.. :Oo:  I thought the 3500 was a bit pricey..lol..  Also just by looking at the pictures its missing things..unless he has them and they were not on the machine. IMO its a $2000 machine max..and that is if it has all the parts.. But I guess it comes down to what one will pay for it..

Title: Re: Looking for popcorn machines?
Post by: Cokemachinesandmore on December 09, 2013, 01:18:38 pm
I'm curious have u=you seen many of them in the $2000.00 price range.
Or is $2000.00 your personal limit you are setting for yourself?

Title: Re: Looking for popcorn machines?
Post by: PopcornShop on December 09, 2013, 03:48:10 pm
Most of the machines I have come across have a price range of 1500-3500.. In my experience with these is most people start out high and later come down to a more realistic price.. which tends to fall around the $2000 dollar range give or take.. So I base what I would pay on the machine itself.. How complete it is, if anyone has modified anything, condition of the machine.. I also buy machines that are in very tuff shape..missing parts that type of thing.. Ive restored several of these and enjoy working on them a lot.. One thing about pricing is everyone has there own what they would pay price. So does that mean one cant get prime price for a machine...no..  But again IMO the machine on ebay currently wouldn't fall into the category of getting 5500 .. maybe in time things will come to that price but currently I think its high.. cheers

Very well stated!,,, when it comes to an item like this where there is not a "FUNTRONICS" available to buy the missing pieces from like on a Vendo 81 Soda machine, price really does come down to if it has all it's parts or not..

This guy emailed me to ask if i was interested in it. I told him he was missing a few things on the pictures he sent me and posted on ebay. I told him it was priced too high and he needs more pictures of the insides to see what he has. John, parts aren't that hard too find.....The salt box is tho !

If anyone has been following the Minit Pop/U Pop It on ebay.. the guy has put up some pics of the inside.. The machine is missing a lot of parts.. I just wanted to let all of you know in case you were thinking about this machine.. Some parts that are missing are key parts as well.. I could list the parts that I see aren't there but that will be a long list!  Merry Christmas everyone!

There's not much time left, I'd say a couple of hours or so, just wanted to post in case someone needs this sign for their popcorn machine...
