Title: Picked this up today Post by: jholmgren on November 22, 2013, 09:20:59 pm Picked up this Gold Medal Model 200 (aka "You'll like it") popcorn warmer this evening (Thanks Jared!).
Very nice clean machine, obviously a replacement/home made globe. Everything works great. Burned the crap out of my finger on the warmer checking to see if it got hot. Darwin moment. I've been pondering the replacement globe thing, I'm pretty sure nobody reproduces them. I've had success in the past tracking down small companies that will do small runs of items, I'm going to dig around for someone that does plastic molding. There is also local place here that does glass blowing and they teach a course in it. I'm thinking about seeing if this is something they could do, or let me do if I sign up for one of their courses. It wouldn't really be 'glass blowing' so I'm not sure. But on that thought train, I wonder if I could get some Popperette globes made there... hmmmmm. Title: Re: Picked this up today Post by: jholmgren on November 23, 2013, 09:43:26 am Thanks guys.
Bob - you know you guys are ALWAYS welcome at my place, although I don't have the variety of awesome machines that Larry possesses. Unfortunately the only single-batch popcorn I can make is in the little 100 calorie microwave snack bags. I've been singing the praises of that Popperette popcorn to Tina since I got back from Chicago. I have honestly never had better popcorn. I'm sure it was the fact that it was popped in coconut oil, as opposed to air-popped or nuked, but WOW that was good. On the replacement globe front... I may already have a lead. If it pans out, I'll start up a new thread with any details. I'll dig through my notes and see if I can find his name Title: Re: Picked this up today Post by: jholmgren on November 23, 2013, 09:51:38 am There was a guy on Ebay making replacement globes, It stuck in my mind since he also was repopping parts for a Wurlitzer juke. I'll dig through my notes and see if I can find his name That would be great Jim, thanks! I searched Google last night and actually found a plastic molding company in the little town about 2 miles from me. I took a shot last night on an email to the plant manager. He answered me this morning. They have a 3-D printer, and he said he may be able to help me out. I sent him some rough measurements this morning. If he can help, I may need to beg or borrow an original globe from someone to get some accurate measurements since mine has a home-made replacement. We'll see... either way, the geek in me hopes I can get a chance to see a 3-D printer in action! Title: Re: Picked this up today Post by: crackerman_don on November 23, 2013, 09:58:05 am Great looking machine Jim . I Have that version and there is another version I have also the front is a little different I will post pics later. I am needing the trim ring that holds the globe to base if anyone knows of or has parts.
Thanks Donnie Title: Re: Picked this up today Post by: crackerman_don on November 23, 2013, 12:07:00 pm here are the pics of 2 different versions I have

I've only seen them like your first pic - with the external chute. Where are you located? At some point I may bother you for some hi-res pics of the decals on yours so I can have some made up to match. Title: Re: Picked this up today Post by: crackerman_don on November 23, 2013, 12:40:53 pm Here is one I got earlier this year from Curtis I hope to get a Chute for it the one on it it now is just a door with no hinge it is held on by tape. He bought this from a guy who bought from VC auctions sight unseen. It is still neat machine Curtis did one awhile back that looked awsome.

That is a clean machine. All you need now is one of those butter warmers on a stand next to it.
