Title: SMC Brotherhood
Post by: MoonDawg on November 08, 2013, 12:23:05 pm
Was sitting at my computer about 8:00 PM Tuesday evening when I get a PM from a member on the east coast, whom I have done buisness with in the past. Told me he found a killer deal on a machine, bargained for an even better price but didn't think he could get it shipped. He asked if I was interested and sent me pictures. He said he responded to an ad 3 weeks ago and she was just now answering e-mails and then answered her phone. He also stated that I better call her quick as she is hard to get hold of.
Problem was this machine was 500 miles from me. I called her and said I would buy the machine, send her a money order then have a shipper pick it up. No good, she wants cash, besides she only comes to this house where it is stored occasionally. Said she would be here again Sunday afternoon and I could see it then. (Well we all know that if it's a good buy it will NOT still be there Sunday!)  :darn:
"OK, will you be there tomorrow?" I asked.  She was leaving but Bo' her boyfriend who used to service Coke's machines, would still be there.
I was on the road at 4:30 am Wednesday morning. When I got there Bo' had the machine cooling and was running coins through the mech to show me how well it worked. I believe he was preparing to defend his price, in case I tried further bargaining.
He had had it stored in his old shop for over 35 years.
It was straight and clean. I immediately paid him and when I asked asked if he would sell any of his Coinco mechanisms........................ he gave me a NOS S-75-9400B for free.

A big deal gets made if a member on this site steps out of line, but never is enough gratification given to a member who goes out of his way to help others.  Big public thank you to Sc1101, SETH. ...........my new best friend. :happydrinkers:

P.S. Whenever you guys are considering your next second car, I would highly recommend the Chevrolet HHR.
4 cylinder, seating for 4 and doubles as a weekend hauler, plenty of cargo space.

What! You didn't remove the passenger seat and stuff it in up front with you?

I have had nothing but good experiences from everyone I have dealt with on this site.  Everyone I have spoken with for advise have been real helpful & friendly, and several guys have gone out of their way to help me out.

I still owe Tom/Tkaz a big lunch & beers for picking up and delivering my favorite clock to my in-laws last year.  Maybe one day I will be able to meet up with him and make good on that.     Let me know when you are back up in CT or Western Mass Tom.

Congrats on getting that machine Glenn!
