Title: Have not seen this Kelvinator Cooler before. Post by: SSmoothie on October 19, 2013, 02:03:37 pm Have not seen this Kelvinator Cooler before, can anyone confirm its originality, if its been cut in half and replaced the chrome trim at the bottom and what lids it came with?
Dimensions are 42 inches long 26 wide and 21 tall. Thanks, Title: Re: Have not seen this Kalvinator Cooler before. Post by: vintage-air on October 19, 2013, 02:20:04 pm You mean Kelvinator?

Post by: Jeffmon on October 20, 2013, 08:03:53 am The trim is original but it has been cut down and the lid isn't original, I'm also assuming that the refrigiration unit has been removed seeing it's been cut down. It's actually a Canadian model made about an hour away from Detroit Michigan, in my opinion they are the nicest Kelvinator cooler made ! Still lots of beautiful originals to be had for under $500 around my area !
Title: Re: Have not seen this Kelvinator Cooler before. Post by: SSmoothie on October 20, 2013, 12:41:15 pm I kind of like it, the trim is in decent shape. He wants $450 for it, I may consider it if I can get him down under $300.

If you really want that model I can find you a nice original for around that price, I wouldn't buy that one to be honest, the fact that it's been cut down and the refrigiration unit revomed is nothing compared to that hideous lid !

Post by: mznb1u on October 21, 2013, 02:39:33 pm I have one of those coolers as well. Mine came from the general store on Pelee Island in the middle of Lake Erie. I bought it from the former owner's son. Needs restoration though but the liner is still water tight!

Title: Re: Have not seen this Kelvinator Cooler before. Post by: mznb1u on October 22, 2013, 07:42:03 am That square cover is the cap catcher--more of a little drawer. The previous owner of mine mounted a plastic pull on the cap catcher with is not correct but it works! I would think that could be fabricated or I have noticed that some of the Westy cap catchers are similar in size. Mine is missing the cover for the water circulator so if you guys up in Canada happen to run across one, let me know!

With the chrome redone, that's not a bad price. I usually have to pay that much or more to re-chrome the moldings on those. We have restored quite a few of them up here in Canada. Title: Re: Have not seen this Kelvinator Cooler before. Post by: SSmoothie on October 23, 2013, 06:38:07 pm He's saying he paid well over $1000 for the rechoming, that is a nice looking cooler.
