Title: Barqs 81 Post by: BONOVOX on October 18, 2013, 05:54:50 pm Well, I picked this up a couple of weeks ago, just never got the time to take a pic.
I paid 400 for the machine and 3 to have it shipped..... so i'm not too deep into it. Thanks to ld26 for the posting of it on here Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: BONOVOX on October 18, 2013, 05:56:10 pm It has it's issues (little bit rusty lol) but its all there and still cools
Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: Pixel on October 18, 2013, 06:13:54 pm I was wondering what happened with this. Glad to see it arrived ok.
The cooling compartment doesn't look too bad at all considering the outside. That's unusual, most of the time it's kinda the other way around. At least in my limited experience. Did you ever decide on a color scheme? Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: HowDueYouDue on October 18, 2013, 06:50:46 pm A little rusty but it is a cool looking machine. Congrats
Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: BONOVOX on October 18, 2013, 07:48:50 pm I have other machines in line first.... but I'm thinking of doing a white front with blue letters, and the cabinet in blue.
I was also thinking of putting a NON Barq's decal on the side... something that goes well with blue... like a yellow squirt, Nehi, or a white Canada Dry etc.... :happydrinkers: Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: tkaz on October 18, 2013, 07:51:14 pm Is the Barq's embossed on the front of it? That'll look real sharp when it's finished.
Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: ld26 on October 18, 2013, 09:38:55 pm I'm glad you picked it up, embossed barqs on an 81 is just awesome, cant wait to see what you do with it...
Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: mygoose101 on October 19, 2013, 02:47:08 am That's rust? I thought the machine was brown. JK. With your tastes I'll sure the machine will look awesome when done. I am really starting to like the look of restored square corner machines.
I don't think being in it $700 is that bad. Try finding another one at any price. Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: BONOVOX on November 08, 2013, 11:18:24 am tkaz... yes it's embossed on the front.
I think they only made embossed barq's and 7up. Anyone know if they made other transitional embossed squares? Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: Jeffmon on November 08, 2013, 06:15:25 pm Definitely a sweet machine Ed, can't wait to see what you do with it !
Title: Re: Barqs 81 Post by: MaineT on November 09, 2013, 09:05:44 am That would be a great test for Rust-mort.... Really big test.
I'm sure it wouldn't work completely, but it would show its limitations. |
