The top pic is of a 81d I want to buy this weekend. Is the coin mech original? I've noticed that it doesn't have that top arm that has the label on it . I've included a comparison pic below it. Identification Post by: collecture on September 18, 2013, 04:37:22 pm It is what is called a small door large door mech and, yes, they were used on all large door mech machines. I believe that a customer could choose the mech going in his machine. Say he already had a Vendo Coin Changer mounted on the wall. He might opt not to pay the extra $20 (or whatever) to have a change-giver installed in his machine and just go with the straight sale mech.
This is not to say that this mech is original to the 81 you are looking at. These mechs could be set for 15c or 20c and it could easily have been swapped in order to keep the machine in service longer; however, I do not see mounting holes for the SO Flag, so I think it is original to the machine.
