Title: Which slug rejector do I have? Post by: flippa on September 17, 2013, 02:12:10 pm I just got my hands on a very clean Vendo 81-A. It is a 10 cent machine, and states on the OEM decal "Deposit dime or two nickels".
The machine will work with two nickels but not with a dime, so I am assuming that I have a 5 cent slug rejector. It has the number 692 stamped on the rear. If this is a 5 cent rejector, can these be modified to work with both nickels and dimes, or do I need to find a 10 cent rejector? Thanks Larry Title: Re: Which slug rejector do I have? Title: Re: Which slug rejector do I have? Post by: collecture on September 17, 2013, 04:24:28 pm It is a nickel/dime rejector. It is missing the knockout arm and the nickel oversized gauge, neither of which are a necessity. The KO arm just pushes washers off the washer retaining wire when the rejector is scavenged. The nickel oversized gauge is a size test for the nickel.
Probably just needs a good cleaning and adjusting. Title: Re: Which slug rejector do I have? Post by: flippa on September 18, 2013, 10:22:06 am Thanks for the replies.
I can see that there is a bar/piece that blocks the path of the dimes. I am a little hesitant to start fooling around with it. I can imagine that it would be difficult to disassemble & reassemble without some directions. Is there a service manual or at least an exploded diagram for the slug rejector on the site, or would it just be safer to send it off to be massaged by one of the resident experts? Post by: SIGNGUY on October 04, 2013, 08:41:50 am I'd say just clean it up good.. you can take most of it apart pretty easily, at least enough to get in there good with a cue tip and some cleaner and clean out the coin path..
but if all else fails, not on is better than Tom (collecture) at restoring or even just helping getting it working if you dont' want it restored, which I'm assuming you don't as you want to keep it all looking original. Title: Re: Which slug rejector do I have? Post by: Creighton on October 04, 2013, 10:54:37 pm Good looking machine! No need to monkey about on the restore. Send the mech to collecture. It will return better than new.
