Title: Quikold B-500
Post by: SelVend 7 up on September 16, 2013, 07:16:29 pm
Hey all---

I'm looking at a Quickold B-500 fairly close to me.  It's a really clean pepsi .  I can post a pic later but would anyone throw me a fair value?  Seller asking 500.  Fully functional 10 cent machine.

Thanks, Chris

Make sure it's complete and double check functionality!
That's a fair price if I am reading between the lines of your description.  It wouldn't hurt to offer $400 or $450 when you go back...
I would be prepared to pay the asking price in the end

That machine is actually a twin of the Glasco 50 and has $500.00 worth of parts.

Thanks for the info guys.  Here's a photo.  Would you put this at the early 60's?  The seller has it advertised as 50's.

Probably spans the two - late 50's into early 60's, similar to the Glasco GBV50.

Your first post was 2 days ago. Now that we see the picture, you can only HOPE it is still there!  :hopefull:

Go get it, that is one well kept machine!

Ha, good point.  It's still there.  It may be a little farther than I want to go but it's a pretty clean machine.  Little surface rust on a few internal ribs and back but overall fairly nice.

My wife also said "go get it if you want it".  Good to have a solid support system!

Usually I have my keys in my hand by the time my wife finishes that statement.

$500 looks to be a very fair price on that beastie.  Go for it!  If it is not convenient, see if any other members are close by and can pick it up for you to shorten the trip.  if it is anywhere in south-central PA or northern MD, I'd be happy to snag it and hold it for you.

I really appreciate that, Jim.

Really good bunch of people here on this forum.

Slider rack has been butchered!  :darn:

I'm not terribly familiar with these.  Assume you mean missing some of the gate racking?

How would this affect your opinion of the machine?

Thanks,
Chris

Good eye Glen - you can see in the picture that one of the 'ribs' for the slider rack is missing.  You can still see the tab to which it would have been welded.
IF... (big if) it is the same as the Glasco rack, you are probably looking in the $200 range to replace it.  If you are lucky the broken rib is still with it and can be welded back in place.  Not a show stopper, but certainly a negotiating point.

Wonder why someone would do that to the rack ? Makes no sense.

I can only assume it was either:

a.) to open it up so bottles could be pulled out "free vend" style

b.) grates broke (found 2 to be missing) after a lot of use

I can probably fab a couple up pretty quick and weld them back in.

We'll see how it goes.

Appreciate all the comments on this subject!

Those rails did not break  they were cut off.

In that case, that's terrible.

I'd sell you a nice original Ideal or Glasco rack for $200.  I'm almost positive they will fit a Quikold.

Thank you for the offer.  I'll see where I land on this project and if it's needed, I'll be in touch.

I've had several conversations with the seller.  Trying to work a deal.

Would be very sportsmanlike not to expose information like this.   But thanks for trying to help.

Yeah, I was mildly offended  :glare:  Now just hope no one from this forum back doors me on the auction (most people wouldn't, I know).

But I like the way you phrased it much better, MoonDawg.  We'll call it "politically correct".

Wow.
I had meant no offense in posting the link.
What about all the other eBay links in this forum??? I guess they're all okay but this one isn't.  :Oo:

Don't worry about it bro.

My point was I made several insinuations that I was trying to get it.  I really don't want competition if u know what I mean.

If I had I would've posted the link myself.

You obviously had to research to find it.

I'm not mad.

I just expected better etiquette.

Posting auction links is OK for general discussion but if the guy who found it doesn't post it, there's a reason.

No hard feelings.  Now I just have to hope none of my fellow collectors bid.....or u could remove your link.
