Title: V-39 conversion
Post by: kbareit on September 15, 2013, 04:57:53 pm
Just spotted this on Ebay and was wondering if it is really worth 4K?

Every conversion I have seen, including the brochures the seller posted..........have that huge square modification patch in white.

I think the all red photo he took from Walters book looks 10X better.

Unless you just like the oddball stuff, I don't think this is a very desireable machine.  Would much rather have a nice 39 with the original drum even though they are one of the most common machines out there.  The conversion fronts just  are not very attractice.  If they had rounded off the top corners to match the machine and kept the color red, then it would look better.  The conversion destroys the embosing and thus the character of the machine.  I know the purpose of the conversion was to sell more sodas, not to maintain character, but I still don't like them.  For 4K you can get a lot more.

        For $4K you could get a real 81..........not just a wanna'be!

It looks like a V39 had a collision with a square-top V56.  :tounge:

It just has that jerry-rigged look to it. Painting it red certainly wouldn't have hurt.

Whomever cobbled it together should've at least arranged for the bottle door to be on the left.

They've went all the way down to $3750 Buy it Now or make offer.

FAIL

I vote 50 cents....well actually not. It'd cost more to ship than it'd be worth, IMO.

If that is worth $3,750, that means I'll be able to sell my Selectivend 83 conversion for at least $4,000, right guys?  :tounge:

I can't believe no one has jumped on my machine for $150, it has to be the deal of the century at that price.  It might be fugly, but my 83 is definitely better looking than that 39.

I have to get this darn thing listed on Ebay and start it out at $0.99.  :glare: They say that there is an arse for every seat, so someone might buy it.
