Title: Old Coke Fountain Flange Sign
Post by: HowDueYouDue on August 25, 2013, 05:09:49 pm
Came across this today. Double sided with the flange; pictured is the better side.  Seller wants $1,500. Seemed high but figured I would ask the experts. Appreciate any and all help

really cool sign, for $1500 it would have to be in better condition.  I would say around $500 at most.  Like most collectibles condition is everything.

It looks to have original bracket and that adds value 12Th edition Petretti's has it at $1500 without bracket.

I think it's porcelain. Will whatever is on it clean up? Looks like it probably would.

Looked like it would clean up; not sure if porcelain or not. Owner had someone trying to sell it for him. Got the owners info to call and make an offer once I knew more about it.

That's nice with the sign bracket and metal frame around it. I'm pretty sure those are porcelain and would clean up. I'm not sure on price, but I'd guess (big guess) $1,000 would be a good buy with the bracket and if the other side is in good shape. $1500 doesn't seem awful.

I would agree it would probably clean up good. The original bracket adds some good value, usually your lucky just to find the sign. I would say on Ebay it would sell for $800.00-1000.00. It would probably sell In a local antique store for $500.00. They don't have as good of a specific audience as Ebay which equals a lower sale price.

Cool sign. I had that very Coke counter top dispenser stolen from me last year. Was in my Grand-Father's Drug store in east Tn. Still not over it,also got all the stainless syrup pumps that were at the fountain.

I would snatch it up in a heartbeat for $500 as I'd be lucky to even see it in an antique store (at east around here), let alone at that price.

Just keep in mind they are showing the better side most likely the other side is in worse condition.

I agree it will clean up nice, the only way to hurt porcelin is with rocks or bb gun. Most of these signs I have seen have chunks missing.

I agree Hale.  I was suprised to find this at my local flea market where the collective value of everything for sale is usually around $1,500.  Cola, thanks for the reminder.  The "seller" wasn't too keen on anyone touching it so I will have to look it over in full with the actual owner.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
