Title: 7 UP VMC 81 Value?
Post by: ksnuclear on July 23, 2013, 10:29:24 pm
Hi Everyone.

I have a 7 Up VMC 81 that I will be selling and I would like your input on the value.  It is an old (1992) restoration by St. Louis Slot Machine co.  The compressor works but does not cool.  I unplugged it a couple years ago when it started icing up and never got around to getting the Freon topped off.
You can see pics on my Flickr page at this link- http://www.flickr.com/photos/ksnuclear/
I would love to know your thoughts!
Thanks for your help.

I'd say around $7,500. That is a nice and desirable machine. The fact that it's a older restoration will help show that it is a real 7-up but either way be prepared to pull back the inner door liner because most buyers will want to see that indeed it is the real deal.

If it is icing up, the upper fan might be shot. Try to see if it is spinning freely.
Where is the machine located? You may be able to sell it right to someone on this forum.

Thanks for the replys!

Both fans function properly.  I have uploaded a picture of the inside ot the door to my flickr account and attached a small version of it here.

It is located in Kansas City.

I purchased the machine from John...He was a stand up guy and even delivered 2.5 hrs. out of his way (5 hour trip). He tells me that this is the machine in the Jeff Walters book (page 253). I had to go look to be sure...but I think he's correct. It needs some work, but I'm very happy with it...it's sitting at my friend's house in Missouri now and I just need to ship it to my house in Oregon.
