Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on December 31, 2004, 06:05:27 am Hi guys,
Could you please help me ID this machine (supposedly from 1957)? I looked in the photos in the Soda Machines section of this website, but didn't see a match. Once ID'd, any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Also, do any of you guys own one just like this one? Thanks so much! ~Markito Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: johnieG on December 31, 2004, 10:36:58 am perhaps a picture would help?

Thanks, 'kito Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: Jim on December 31, 2004, 02:13:16 pm Hello,
What you have is a version of the Vendo 216; off the top of my head, a V-216 MD. There's general information located in the Vendo Section of the Soda Machines Listing. Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: Bob K on December 31, 2004, 02:30:02 pm Cool machine! It's a big boy...
Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on December 31, 2004, 03:34:30 pm Thanks, I just bought it on eBay. My first soda machine ever!
It is missing the coin mechanical parts. Anyone know where I can get the replacement for that? Thanks guys. Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on December 31, 2004, 03:50:56 pm
Jim, You must be right about it being a V-216 MD, because though I didn't see it in the Vendo gallery here (just other 216's that don't look anything like it), I did a Google search and saw the V-216 MD here and it looks identical: http://www.jukeboxbiz.com/descriptions.asp?id=17 Thanks! Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on January 01, 2005, 10:48:44 am Some of those big old machines look real nice, as long as you don't have to move them, especially up or down stairs!
Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on January 01, 2005, 12:25:05 pm Yeah, you see, that's the problem... I have to move it doen the stairs to my basement. Yikes!
Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on January 01, 2005, 12:26:17 pm when I go pick it up at the guy's garage, I assume I can lay the machine on it's back in the truck? What is recommended, as I've never moved a coke machine before.
Any and all advice is needed and requested. Thanks, Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: johnieG on January 01, 2005, 06:02:15 pm Yes, you can move it on it's back, but you'll have to let it sit upright again about 24hrs. before firing up the compressor again ( the oil inside the compressor will migrate into the lines & you'll have to give it time to return to the compressor).
& you are going to have SO much fun getting it downstairs! . I've got a Westinghouse WC-102-MD machine in my basment ( about the same height & weight) Tons of fun! literally! , so be carefull!!! Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on January 01, 2005, 09:27:38 pm Thanks for the tips JohnieG.
How did you get it down the stairs? How many men? Ropes and harnesses too or just guys above and below? Anything else I should know? Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: johnieG on January 01, 2005, 10:01:34 pm Well due to lack of head-room on the steps ( couldn't get the dolly to tilt low enough with any kind of control) We ended up with it on it's back & sliding it down the steps on some 2x4's covered with OSB screwed to it (to for a slide) and then we covered the OSB with a carpet remnant (to prevent scratching up the back) so basically with two guys on the bottom to control the "slide" & two guys on the top of the steps . the machine was straped with two tie-down straps from top to bottom, we kept the top end centered & the guys on the bottom of the steps eased it down to the landing & then we stood it back up again...see the attached cheesy drawing....PS I suggest that you place your least favorite brother-in-laws and or people who owe you money at the bottom of the steps!

Honestly, you are amazing. this is exactly the sort of info I was hoping for. That is very helpful. And I think the drawing is great. I really appreciate you taking the time to make it for me. You probably aren't in Minnesota are you? I am just very excited because I will finally have my first Coke machine (and I have always wanted one)! Thank you again.:D Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: johnieG on January 02, 2005, 09:40:41 am Sorry, I'm not close enough to help you move the machine down the steps! Darn! , I'm over here in S.E. Michigan....
Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on January 02, 2005, 12:44:04 pm I wasn't saying I wanted to make you move it, just good to have a pal with Coke machine knowledge in your own region, thas all.
Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on January 02, 2005, 02:15:07 pm Actually I would suggest putting people that you owe money to at the bottom (no big loss if they get smucked by a big coke machine, means you don't have to pay them!!) keep people who owe you money out of harms way
Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: Bob K on January 02, 2005, 06:13:09 pm johnnieg, that's a great method to slide a machine down basement stairs.
I wish I had thought of that when I moved a Vendorlator 242 into my basement ten years back. I haven't walked upright since... I sold it a year later and had to get it UP the stairs - what a monstrosity of a machine. Title: Please help me identify this coke machine Post by: on January 04, 2005, 09:23:56 pm
By the way, what does the "MD" stand for? Multi Drink? Multi Door? |
