Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on December 24, 2004, 06:09:22 pm Well I just finished my version of the frosty machine. I also finished a Vendo 56 Coke today. I deliver both machines in two days. WHat do you all think. This is by far the nicest machine I have ever built. I just wanted to tell everyone about my plesent experience with www.bitw.com and sodadecals.com. They were who made all of the decals for the Frosty machine. They were nice enough to put together a package of vinyl identical to what was used on their machine. It was slightly pricey but everything was top quality and the service couldn't have been better.

THANKS Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on December 24, 2004, 08:48:02 pm I don't know the code but it was Penske yellow. It is the same color that they paint their rental trucks in.
Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: dr galaga on December 24, 2004, 11:44:57 pm Nice job on both of them. How long did it take you? Did you use a lot of "new" parts, or did you beautify the originals?
Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on December 25, 2004, 09:46:49 am I did both machines at the same time and they took about five or six weeks to finish. There are alot more pictures in the photo album section of this site. They are under collections and Josh's collection. I always use a good number of new parts. Coin mechs, signs, wiring, and so on but alot is origional. Thank you for all of the nice feedback.
Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: dr galaga on December 25, 2004, 01:20:20 pm Wow, that 56 had more rust than my pick-up has!
Did you just sandblast it, or did you also use some rust neutralizer on it? Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on December 25, 2004, 01:58:18 pm Actually it was rather rust free. It was just painted brown so it looked rather rusty. It was a very solid machine to start from.
Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: on December 25, 2004, 11:37:21 pm Looking Niceeeeee, Gotta ask tho what are you doing paint wise, Primer ,color, color sand, Clearcoat? or single stage paint? :-)
Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on December 25, 2004, 11:55:29 pm I use Dupont Nason arylic emamel. I don't generally don't strip my machines if they are not rusty. Then we do any body work that is needed and prime and paint. I don't do my own body work or paint. I have a guy here in daytona Beach that does a great job. If anyone is local and needs a machine painted he does great work and is extremely resonable. I unfortunately have to find someone new to paint my machines as I am moving to Cincinnatti Oh tomorrow. I am delivering these machines along the way. Now aren't I nice. I am meeting the buyer half way with his machines for free since I am going there already. Greenja Is the lucky new owner of these two machines. I can't wait for him to see them tomorrow.

Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on December 27, 2004, 09:14:06 pm Well I am back home in Ohio and in my four years living in Florida I have forgotten how cold it is here. The new owner of the two machines seemed to be really happy with them when I droped them off.

Stay warm! Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: sodaworks on January 01, 2005, 08:26:19 pm Nice job on the square tops!! I am currently restoring one for a client. The machine is a V56. I am going to be adding a light up Coca-cola sign. It originally was just painted. I have a donor machine that I can rob the light components from. The question I for you is what did you use for the light panel? White plexiglass and apply decals? Transparent plexiglass with inside painted white? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Terry
Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on January 02, 2005, 01:47:12 pm I bought the light pannel from Funtronics. They repop them and they are really nice. I think it is $38 each. As for the light I just buy a small florecent light from the hardware store and take all of the components out of the plastic case and mount them into the machine. I then cut off the plug and direct wire it to the bottle door light if it has one.

Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: Eric on January 06, 2005, 04:22:17 pm Is that light up front on the Frosty machine a screen on
frosted plastic or a decal on frosted plastic. Looks great! And if you don't mind how much was the decal set?.... I know of a ugly little Pepsi Square top begging to be a Frosty machine. Title: I finished the frosty machine Post by: loman4ec on January 06, 2005, 05:07:42 pm What they did is took a frosted white piece of plexiglass and put the decal on it then put a clear plastic piece of plexiglass on the front. It looks great. The decal package was rather pricy. I believe it was about $250 for all of the decals as well as the sign
