Title: Mills 47b
Post by: joesquid on December 20, 2004, 10:27:39 pm
Howdy all,
Hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas!!!  I'm back from sailing the seas for Uncle Sam and right back into rewiring coke machines!

I'm doing a re-wire of a friend's Mills 47B and pretty much doing it from scratch.  Most of the lower deck (compressor) wiring was missing and I'm discovering that Mills was pretty consistent about developing modifications to the wiring as each year's model was produced.  I'm hoping one of you can trace the serial number for me and tell me what year of 47B I'm contending with.  The serial number is 7683.

Also, I've found that the tech. manual I'm using doesn't go into detail on the compressor wiring.  There's four wires from the compressor, two of which must go to power and I'm assuming the other two go to a pressure cutout switch of some sort.  If anyone could bring some light to this would also be much appreciated!

Hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday season!

God Bless!!

Check on the compressors case, there may be some stamped letters, such as... R (for "run") C (for "Common")
and S ( for "Start"), typically the common terminal was wired to the neutral side of the line, through a saftey overload device, then, the start & run terminals were wired back to the start/run relay, with the "start" circut usually wired in series with a capacitor (for a boost in starting tourqe) as for the forth wire. it may have been for the comppressors cooling fan ( which would have been wired in to the "run" circut' terminal ) these are the basics...hope it helps you start sorting it all out...JohnieG  :;):
