Title: Cavalier USS-12-96 - First machine - Corona Conversion Post by: sbcroix on June 12, 2013, 12:40:04 am So I just found this site a few days ago when I first got a Westinghouse Standard cooler that used to belong to my grandparents.
But I did a restoration / conversion on this back in 2006. Since I am new to the forums I thought I would show some before and after pictures. When I got it, it was a Pepsi machine. Not sure if that was original or not though. And it was in terrible condition. I did a complete tear down and took the shell to be straightened / pained @ a body shop. The liner I did with Hammertone paint. If I had to do it again, I would likely have it powder coated. Compressor worked great and was in good overall condition, so I just cleaned it up and polished the copper. Had some custom decals made. Still need a few more for the front of the machine, but just haven't gotten around to it. I would love to hear some opinions on it! Too much yellow on the front.

I enjoyed doing it, although A lot of people hate corona and conversions. I really wanted something that popped. That is why the front isn't finished right now... I have the wiring to use a lighted display, but haven't been able to find anyone selling just that piece for mine. Seen a lot of the USS-64 inserts, but apparently the USS-96 ones are in short supply. Also, the USS and CSS signs are interchangeable, this one should work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COCA-COLA-DRINK-MACH-BY-CAVALIER-CSS-12-96-SIGN-WITH-FRAME-/270913017237?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f13ac9595 Title: Re: Cavalier USS-12-96 - First machine - Corona Conversion Post by: Blind1968 on June 18, 2013, 09:17:48 pm Nice! I like the Corona idea.

I feel stupid for not searching for the CSS model now... Going to keep that bookmarked, but hopefully Ron (cokecolaman) has what I need so I can help support my fellow board members. Also, while it's fresh in my mind... I would like to remove the levelers and replace them with locking wheels or castors of some sort. Has anyone here done something like this? Any tips... The 96 is a tall machine and that is just what it may do - tip! I'd be wary doing that. Are you really going to be moving it around THAT much? A dolly works just fine for the occasional relocation IMO. Title: Re: Cavalier USS-12-96 - First machine - Corona Conversion Post by: NinjaKai on June 27, 2013, 08:33:59 am Seen it. (in person)
