Title: Mills 47B coin rejector magnet (Help) Post by: sc1101 on April 30, 2013, 03:43:13 pm I have narrowed down my problem to the magnet shown below on left. Is this a part that anyone may have or know how to repair. This is from a Mills 47N and I'm not sure if this is specific to this machine, which I'm sure it is or if there is another machine that uses the same one. This magnet pulls up a lever that forces coin to be accepted when machine is full of bottles and in service. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Seth

I assume it's the coil that you are talking about? There is also a magnet there in that silver cylinder. At least it looks like one.
Why do you think the coil is bad? Did you put an ohm meter on it? Pinball resource has a lot of coils, but if you do not have a coil number they pretty much wont help you. If it's just the coin reject you don't need it to work. Disable the piece. Title: Re: Mills 47B coin rejector magnet (Help) Post by: johnieG on April 30, 2013, 04:34:04 pm It's a 120Volt Coin-Reject-Electro-Magnet (CREM) which as you've discovered rejects all coins when the machine is either empty (or out of proper change if so equipped) . I agree an EM pinball solenoid coil would be your best bet...
Fun fact...did you know that if you power up a line-power solenoid coil without an Iron core in it that it will burn open in a mater of seconds? Now you do..So DON'T!!! Title: Re: Mills 47B coin rejector magnet (Help) Post by: collecture on April 30, 2013, 04:38:13 pm You might try here also:

I wasn't quite sure what to call it I just know when it isnt magnatized a lever holds a pin in place which makes coins reject. When I manually hold the lever up as if the magnet is holding it, the coin goes to coin box and vends perfect. So I first checked to make sure power was being sent to electromagnetic coil when machine was full and it was. I then powered the electromagnetic coil with direct power to see if it moved the lever and pin. It did not move. So I came to the conclusion it is bad. I'll need to make something similar with new parts suggested.
