Title: Sandblasting
Post by: on November 28, 2004, 11:06:12 pm
I am in the process of restoring a Vendo 81.  The shell of the machine is in good shape, without rust and it was re-painted about 15 years ago.  Is it recommended that I sandblast the machine all over again, or should the body shop simply work-on the small dents, sand, prime and paint?  I want to do this the right/best way...just not sure if sandblasting is the best way to go.

Thanks for any help/input.

If you have a good paint surface, it probably has good adhesive and should make a fine base-coat.  However, stripping or sandblasting is a good idea inside your lettering area because the build-up of paint here leaves you with shallow looking letters.
