Title: E Bay question
Post by: mznb1u on March 26, 2013, 05:07:45 pm
I was looking at some cycling jerseys and shorts on EBay listed by a China based seller with a high rating.  The listings had a price and make an offer.  Being that I am that "low-baller" that everyone talks about in their CL ads, I made an offer on a few items.  The offers were rejected the first two times and the third offer was sent but ended up expiring without the seller taking action.  Now it seems that the seller has black-balled me because when I tried to use the BIN option for the items, I get the message:

The item you've selected was not added to your cart.
•This seller will not sell to buyers that do not meet their requirements.

I am also no longer able to contact the seller to find out WTF is going on.  I have an excellent rating for everything I have ever purchased so I don't get it?

Anybody ever run into this problem?  It is not that big of a deal because I can find the items elsewhere.  Just curious.

Thanks!

Hi Tim

I'm not 100 percent sure, but I think with Ebay and "make an offer" option, you only get 2 chances to give your offer per listing cycle.   Once the offers either expire or are rejected, then that's it... no more offers accepted by you from the seller.
I think they do this so that when a seller has an auto accept on their item, you cant start low, and increase a penny every time till you hit their "willing to sell point"

This way, your offer may be higher than what they would have let it go for.

Again, not 100 sure, but I'm pretty sure lol.

Tim, This may sound like a crazy idea but did you check out any local shops for deals. Owning a bicycle shop myself I always have some leftover clothes that I want to move. Especially this time of the season.

Sc--normally I limit my jersey purchases to what I get at rides; however, I ride a Cervelo and was looking to pick up a pair of shorts and jersey that had Cervelo on it.  Most of the shops in my area cater more to the MTB crowd.  I do my best to support my local shops on all parts and repairs.  I just can't find a local shop that carries the Cervelo gear.

I would be interested in anything you migt be brooming if you have a list.  I guess I will wait for these items to be relisted and see if I can BIN a that time.

Thanks for the input.

Tim

you can put buyer requirements on the auction when you set one up to sell. It usually has to do with negative feedback, unpaid auctions, etc. they can also set limits of where you are located for shipping. also, if you have a PO box and they select UPS only, then you will get that because UPS cant ship to PO Boxes.

And maybe they think Michigan is part of Canada!!  :tounge:
(I get that in Maine too!)

This is why we have a second e-bay account in our back pocket. Not your primary but one you use in troubled cases like this or if you want to buy something that you don't want your friends to see.

Tim, Sorry for the late reply. I'm still trying to figure everything out here. I know realize there's a "notify of replies button". I don't sell Cervello stuff but I'm a big Specialized dealer and I stock and can order lots of other brands. Let me know if you need a deal on anything big. That way its worth it for you.   Seth
