Title: I need a Little help please
Post by: krovel on March 12, 2013, 08:19:51 pm
I have a very old philco refrigerator , probably from the 50's that I need repaired. It has a very small hole poked in the condenser or freezer part that needs to be repaired and then refilled with the r12 stuff.

Is there anybody in the Dallas area that works on older refrigeration systems?

Remember folks, never use a steak knife to remove Ice from a refrigerators freezer compartment, Eric is about 4 hours away from this Gent (I've spoken with him on the phone personally. )    :Oo:

Also remember don't use a propane torch, aluminum melts just a tad above 900-F, plus there is pressure in them there lines! it's very easy to melt the evaporator...

Geez, you guys are taking all the fun out of defrosting coils. I love when I show up to a customers and they explain that the coil was frozen and while they were chipping the ice off they heard a hissing sound and decided to call me.  :darn: I even witnessed an experienced refrigeration tech blow a hole in one with a oxygen acetylene torch. Needless to say he no longer does that customers work.

A hair dryer seems to work the best, a heat gun will sometimes melt any plastic.

When I was a kid we just opened the door for a few hours once a month, But now that I think about it I guess we did't keep as much food a drinks in them back then
