Title: barber pole Post by: cohammer on March 10, 2013, 01:07:27 am I just picked up two more barber poles, I have a Marvy 55 serial #2327 made december 15 1951 and the two new ones I picked up were Marvy 55 serial # 7200 and a Marvy 405 serial # 62417. Do you think their serial numbers run from day 1 with the serial numbers all going up no matter the model number or all model numbers started with 1 going up from there? :needphotos:
Title: Re: barber pole Post by: BrianS on March 10, 2013, 01:13:49 pm The Marvey Company is still around and provides full support on all their older poles. They even offer a service to reporcelain older models. I sent them an inquiry a while back on their poles and they responded with a hand signed letter from Scott Marvey and a packet on all their new products, parts for their old products, and a write up on the history of their company. I was very impressed. The document said to call for any service needs on any of their models and to have the serial number available. So I would bet a call to them would not only get you the info you are looking for on the serial numbers, but would also get you access to any replacement parts you might need.
Title: Re: barber pole Post by: Hollywood80 on March 10, 2013, 05:23:05 pm Just curious....
I have this old wooden painted barber pole that is about 3 feet tall. I have had it for at least 15 years and got it from an older couple that had an antique shop many years ago and they said they had had it for a long time. Anyone ever seen one like this? Any estimate of value? I just happened to think of mine because of this thread. Thanks. Title: Re: barber pole Post by: Eric on March 10, 2013, 05:43:37 pm I have a Marvy 55... When I contacted them and gave them the serial number.. they were able to tell me when it was made and who it first went to!
They now have added me to the record.. I'm sure they can do the same for you. My favorite model... The wooden one, I bet you'll have to find a Barber club to get more info.. I'm sure the info is out there! That's a nice one also! |
