Post by: ClassicCokeLover on February 11, 2013, 07:21:56 am
Does anyone know how to decipher the identification stamping on the Westinghouse liners?

A picture would be helpful to know exactly what you are referring to.  I am sure someone here will have the answer to your question.

Liners are stamped W-DIR and W-SIR. No pics yet.

Yes, there is a way to decipher the code.  Here's the cheat sheet (courtesy Janet from Funtronics)...

The first letter indicates the manufacturer (W = Westinghouse)

The remaining 3 letters tell you the month and year of manufacture.  The code is RADIO TUBES...

R=1
A=2
D=3
I=4
O=5
T=6
U=7
B=8
E=9
S=0

So, your would be:

W-DIR = Westinghouse, 3/41
W-SIR = Westinghouse, 10/41

My Westinghouse standard has W-TIR which according to this is Westinghouse 6/41.  Thanks that is very helpful.

As for the comments about Nov and Dec they probably just used more characters. W-RAIR = 12/41

Ok here's a pic of my code to the liner of a westinghouse standard that I just got. It doesn't have any letters.
What would this tell me?
Sorry, just another newbie with a question.

Could you post a picture of the entire cooler? :oops:#
Also, look at the serial# tag. See if it possibly mentions being
made by Caviler.

This is what I got. I don't see a serial number tag, where would it be?
The only thing I've seen is the stamp inside the liner.
