generic 81 - 102755 41 It's stamped very clearly- there was never a letter before the 41. The one thing I noticed is the first two and last two digits are common in the numbers provided. Then what I assume are embossed machines have the B designation except for the orange crush and the generic have either D,F or no letter. How many with the D were originally Dr Pepper machines? If they were painted at the factory for DR P. it might explain the D in the number. If no letter was in the number they might have just been purchased and painted by the soda distributor.

So it very well could be that D was for the Dr Peppers and blanks were whatever the buyer wanted it to be at a later date.
