Title: Picked this up tonight... Post by: jholmgren on January 29, 2013, 08:52:46 pm Nice little Cav USS 64. Was indoors its whole life - nice clean original. Need to clean the glass on the bottle door, but otherwise it is really clean and 100% functional. Thanks everyone for the suggestions on model. I wanted something to vend both cans and bottles and I think this will do nicely.
Tina even likes it but says the wood grain has to go! Jim Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Post by: jholmgren on January 29, 2013, 08:53:32 pm a couple more of the inside...

Creighton Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Post by: tkaz on January 29, 2013, 09:11:37 pm Glad to see you got it, looks exactly like the one I got from Annapolis. The inside of the coin door is white, which means under the woodgrain is also white. I have had some that are black primer. I score around the Cavalier logo on the bottom with a razor before I pull off the woodgrain, then it stays when you peel it off, looks better in my mind.
I had posted some photos of my labeling system before, but the old posts don't have photos anymore, so I'll put them here again. I hot-glued small round (3/4") magnets from Home Depot or Michaels to each of the stacks, then you can just stick bottle caps to them to label. I bought a whole bunch and keep the extras inside the door to swap out. Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Post by: bcharlton on January 30, 2013, 08:33:33 am Nice job Post some pics if you decide to "degrain" it. I will doing mine when the weather breaks.
Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Post by: jholmgren on January 30, 2013, 09:20:36 am I hope to "de-grain" it this weekend. Plan is my heat gun, plastic scraper and some "goof off" to dissolve any leftover glue. I'll keep y'all posted.

You will be happy with that machine. It is identical to mine, which incidentally was my first machine. I kept the grain and use it daily. Very dependable machine and can vend about everything under the sun. :drinking: Tim :drinking: Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Post by: jholmgren on January 30, 2013, 09:47:50 am Thanks Tim - I needed something to vend cans. My boys are killing me with the cost of the bottled Cokes!
Now I can have my sugar-sweetened Mexi-Cokes and the boys can deal with the cans I can get at the local grocery store on sale - all from the same machine! Jim Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Post by: bcharlton on January 30, 2013, 10:02:01 am Jim,
I do the same thing. Kids get the cans I get the Mexican real sugar stuff. BC Title: Re: Picked this up tonight... Post by: Roadman on January 30, 2013, 11:55:10 am I really like my restored USS64...works great every day.
