Title: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Norrisk66 on January 14, 2013, 07:27:20 pm I purchased a cap catcher for my Ideal 55. The mounting holes lined up- and the bottle opener fits through the window.
My question- the top of the cap catcher sits about 1/2" above the chrome trim plate. All the pictures I have seen of other 55's have a gap between the chrome and the top of the catcher. I am thinking I purchased a cap catcher off of a Glasco slider? Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Ltransam on January 14, 2013, 07:31:26 pm Hello ,And Welcome to the site . I don't know the answer But Slider Bob"s the guy around here or MainT Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Kilroy on January 14, 2013, 07:53:01 pm Can't say for sure it's from a Glasco, but yes, the cap catcher should not be extending above the top of the machine

The Glasco has a flat portion in bottom of the hole where the bottle opener is. The Ideal should be oval. Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: kbareit on January 14, 2013, 08:44:31 pm I had a Glasco catcher available and set it on an Ideal. The top went about a 1/4 inch past the bottom of the trim. So it might be a Glasco.

Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Norrisk66 on January 14, 2013, 09:42:42 pm Hmmm. I'm 0-2 on eBay purchases. This item was listed by the
seller as an Ideal catcher. Maybe they were saying it was "ideal" for a soda machine. Pun intended! If anyone has the correct cap catcher that they would like to trade for my Glasco- let me know! Otherwise, I am happy with this for the time being. Thanks again everyone- this forum is a great resource. Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: MaineT on January 14, 2013, 09:58:43 pm Or just use ebay's case program, you'll even get your shipping back!! If he said its an Ideal, it's not, its a Glasco and you will win. If he said it will fit a Glasco and Ideal, then that is your bad not his because it did fit and you will lose the case.
I probably bid against you on that one!! Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Kilroy on January 15, 2013, 08:53:59 am Or sell it or swap it
Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Slider-Bob on January 15, 2013, 09:19:27 am Ken...Is that glasco cap catcher off the slider that you picked up for me and I get this weekend? Sweet!
Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Norrisk66 on January 15, 2013, 09:29:14 am Actually, I believe this machine was originally a Canada Dry non-embossed. You can still see the "Pistaschio Green" under scratches in the white paint, and there is also still a "Property of Canada Dry, Denver, CO" ID tag under the coin machine bracket.
I have had enough brain-damage with eBay seller claims lately, so I think I am just going to hang on to the Glasco catcher for the time being. Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: MoonDawg on January 15, 2013, 12:00:08 pm You could also either make a bracket for the back of the glasco to fit your hole location, or remove the screws in your slider and relocate them to fit a glasco catcher.
Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: bcharlton on January 15, 2013, 02:51:30 pm That's what I would do. Can't you just drill new holes a little lower?

Thanks for the info everyone. Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: bcharlton on January 18, 2013, 04:07:48 pm You did exactly what I would do.
Brian Title: Re: Ideal Slider Cap Catcher Post by: Norrisk66 on January 18, 2013, 05:32:43 pm In case anyone wanted to know or was planning on lowering the mounting holes- the metal below the factory bottom cap catcher mounting hole is much thinner than the other holes.
I had to drill a bigger hole and install a #10-32 fine thread nutsert. |
