Title: HIRES Slider Post by: mack65az on January 12, 2013, 08:06:02 pm Just picked up a de-embossed HIRES 55 slider. Does anyone know if they were all like this or embossed as well? Also looking for the right paint colors for the logo. Got my first slider 6 months ago. I now have seven. Not supposed to be collecting. Supposed to be restoring and selling, but they're starting to pile up. Addicting!
I've tried to post pictures, but I think I'm giving up. Can't get the files on my MAC shrunk any smaller than 276 KB. Anyone have any tips????????? Love this forum, but the picture thing is frustrating the hell out of me. I'm at Barrett-Jackson all week and there are tons of cool machines there. I'll get some pictures. Love to post them if anyone can help make that happen. Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: MaineT on January 12, 2013, 08:08:12 pm There are some good apps for the Iphone to shrink pics....

Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: tkaz on January 12, 2013, 08:29:42 pm If you open the image in Preview, you can use Tools > Adjust Size. Change the pixels to 72 (web standard) and adjust the size percentage to make it work (25% or so). It will show you the new size before you change it so you can play around with it a little.
If you have Photoshop, I can give you instructions on how to really do it right Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: mack65az on January 12, 2013, 08:44:16 pm I'm in AZ, but will remember that for the future. Picture will not open in preview.
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: mack65az on January 12, 2013, 08:55:19 pm fingers crossed
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: halehouse on January 12, 2013, 08:56:08 pm It's a slider train!
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: kbareit on January 12, 2013, 08:56:19 pm You could try to email it to yourself and then downsize it. I take all my pics with an Iphone then email them to myself and have the option of what size I want the photo to be.
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: kbareit on January 12, 2013, 08:58:53 pm It's a slider train! And I thought I had a few. :smile:Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: Kilroy on January 12, 2013, 09:03:14 pm There was also an embossed Hires Slider
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: MaineT on January 12, 2013, 09:06:49 pm Well, then if you want to go for rare ones!!!

Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: MCarter on January 12, 2013, 09:29:19 pm Looks just like the Hires Slider i have. But i think the Dad's Root Beer is the hardest to find !!
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: mack65az on January 12, 2013, 09:30:32 pm Was pretty excited to finish my first one...Embossed 7UP. Then I realized every other one is a 7UP. In fact, picked another one up today to rob some parts.
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: mack65az on January 12, 2013, 09:38:32 pm The southwest does not seem to be a big hotbed for these machines. Maybe I'm just getting started too late in the game.
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: Ltransam on January 12, 2013, 09:46:35 pm Number 3 out Of the Top Rarest Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: kbareit on January 12, 2013, 09:51:13 pm Number 3 out Of the Top Rarest And to think you have two of them for now. When's the trade happening? Just wondering if I'll be seeing the Mission or an OC next week.Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: MaineT on January 12, 2013, 10:04:01 pm Looks just like the Hires Slider i have. But i think the Dad's Root Beer is the hardest to find !! Except the one that is rare enough that the book couldn't even get a picture! Tru-ade!! Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: MaineT on January 12, 2013, 10:11:51 pm Number 3 out Of the Top Rarest How rare can they be... You have 2!! :tounge: You win this round Tim, the Tru Aide and Coke beat my Hires, Pepsi single and double dots  It's all good and I'd rather have a Hires or Orange Crush over either one of these!! They are separated by 2000 miles, but will soon be together! Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: Ltransam on January 12, 2013, 10:24:56 pm Ken The trade Will happen in a Couple Weeks I Guess ?? Bob's Calling Every Night Making Sure Im Tucking His OC in At Night :tounge:  Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: Slapshot42 on January 12, 2013, 11:36:04 pm Where is Slider Bob in all of this talk about Sliders....??
Does the Squirt Slider belong in this conversation?? Here is mine..since everyone is showing off there machines! Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: mznb1u on January 13, 2013, 07:42:47 am There was also an embossed Hires Slider Embossed, Debossed . . . Leonard and I will swap machines in a couple weeks. Can't wait!
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: SIGNGUY on January 13, 2013, 11:15:51 am How rare can they be... You have 2!! :tounge: I'd have to agree.. on the OC.. although hard to find yes.. but I've had 3 in my shop over the last 2 years.. One was mine, and two others belonging to customers in for restoration.. and I know Rod has had a couple over the years... leads me to think they are not as rare as some think? or maybe weve just been lucky to have seen them? Just my two cents Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: GreginNM on January 13, 2013, 12:00:16 pm ...and to think I don't even have an Ideal 55 or Glasco slider yet!! Have not had either one show up close enough for me to snag when I have the play money. I don't even care if it's a 7up. I have a Glasco-style mech for when one shows up! I do have my Dr Pepper Ideal 35 that I love...just waiting to find that elusive coin mech cover that I'm missing...Leonard got the last one of those that showed up!
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: Slapshot42 on January 13, 2013, 12:29:13 pm Interesting.. that's all I ever find in my area is Sliders!
I have to drive or network with other collectors to find the Vendo's or Cavaliers! Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: MaineT on January 13, 2013, 12:49:48 pm ...and to think I don't even have an Ideal 55 or Glasco slider yet!! Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: ClassicCokeLover on January 14, 2013, 05:18:52 pm Would like to get an Orange Crush slider.
Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: Slider-Bob on January 14, 2013, 05:35:03 pm So, they only made 7 OC sliders then: Leonard's, mine, Signguy's 3, and Rod's 2 = 7
Yep...I'm going with that...7 it is! Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: Slider-Bob on January 14, 2013, 05:44:03 pm That also means Leonard has the only original OC ever left in existence, since the others have been restored, or poorly repainted (mine).
Congrats Leonard! Title: Re: HIRES Slider Post by: MaineT on January 14, 2013, 06:26:12 pm Would like to get an Orange Crush slider. Get in line or get out your Visa!!
