Title: 1930's Slingerland Drum kit restore project.
Post by: Creighton on January 11, 2013, 02:38:59 am
Well found that the rock tumbler restores lugs and hardware quite well (using ground walnut shells).
PITA taking the entire kit apart again but the results are worth the effort.
Hard to get good pics but here is an idea:

Thanks all.
Very cool to bring this kit back to life without spending big money for new zinc plating.

The tumbler is the single shown here:

Great unit for small stuff. It's fast. 12 hrs. for screws and such.
Can't get the link to work right. Just cut and paste into a browser and all should be well.

Next purchase will be a barrel tumbler to do the candy shelves for Canteens and Stoners. May just make one.

Want to see the wfl pics. This is fun stuff. I always thought this was an early Ludwig but not so sure now. Any thoughts?
With any luck pics attached:
Thanks!!

I think your snare is a duplex from what Ive read, They are actually very collectable and valuable your snare looks like its from the 1920's Ive awlays wanted a tube lug drum. Its certianly worth hanging on to, and probably has an awesome sound to it. Very nice old snare.

Great job sir!! Thank you.
Here is the same snare on eBay mines in a little better shape.

Sound is killer. It has great snap. Zero rattle or other artifacts.
Thanks again.
