Title: Compressor Junction Box Terminals?
Post by: Slapshot42 on December 09, 2012, 07:11:04 pm
I need to re-wire my RT 56.  When I pulled the junction box cover off I noticed that the connections for the fan motor, etc. are very brittle and should be replaced?  The screws theads to attach the ring terminals for the fan motor literally broke when went to remove the wires.

Is their a direct replacement I can purchase to install on the existing compressor?

It's a little bit of a gamble because I don't know if the compressor works? Is it worth the time of money or should or should I consider replacing the compressor?

I will need to take a better picture before posting....

Thanks in advance...

Jared

Run 2 new wires off the terminals you are referring to, into 110 volt power. If the compressor cools, the next step is to order the complete new wiring harness, doing away with all the old wires.

I have the new wiring harness.

What appears to be bad is the actual junction box when removing the cover.  Would this be considered the start relay for the compressor?

Sounds like the machine is shot.  Give a shout out if you need some help hauling it off.   :tounge:

If the screw's broke off the black box on the bottom pick up a three in one. (start relay over load and start capacitor) Funtronics has them or a local appliance supply. If the compressor doesn't run you won't be out much for trying.

How does the new one differ from the old one?  They appear to look different?  Does the old one have to be removed?

Thanks...

This compressor looks allot like the one on mine CS-96, I replaced the relay with a 3-1 and it works perfectly. I did remove the old relay.

How does the old one come off?

It looks like the top portion is a socket of some sort?  The bottom part looks like it can be removed?

Thanks

A top bracket holds your overload and at the bottom it holds the relay.
You will see 2 screws installed vertically, loosen them and slide that whole assembly out.
