Title: History Channel Post by: jbrooks on December 09, 2012, 10:09:59 am So apparently the History Channel does not care if their entire audience figures out how staged their shows are. This morning I was bored so I flipped on a rerun of Pawn Stars and they are showing the episode when Rick Dale's brother brings in a Vendo 39 and talks like he is just some guy off the street getting rid of a family heirloom.

Title: Re: History Channel Post by: Kilroy on December 09, 2012, 10:24:40 am It's all about ratings and marketing. Knowing that, i don't get upset when he goes on about how rare a VMC 33 is or that someone would take a rare motorcycle to guy who claimed to never have restored one
Title: Re: History Channel Post by: kbareit on December 09, 2012, 11:06:33 am I personally don't watch much of the History channel anymore. They don't program much history anymore. I could care less about pawn shops, hillbilly hand fishing and all the other shows that have nothing to do with history. Create another channel for the joke of programming they have now and get back to the History.
Just my 2 cents. Title: Re: History Channel Post by: MaineT on December 09, 2012, 11:30:01 am History channel 2... Its a couple channels higher on my dish.. ACTUAL HISTORY STUFF!!
Title: Re: History Channel Post by: halehouse on December 09, 2012, 11:52:02 am I liked watching "The Men Who Built America". I didn't catch all of the shows, but I thought it was pretty good.
Title: Re: History Channel Post by: Eric on December 09, 2012, 12:00:55 pm I have gotten so sick of all the cheap reality shows... reruns, staged shows, unfit shows for children we haven gotten rid of TV TOTALLY... Yep.. we haven't had a television since September...
kids read, we rent programs, go to the library... kids grades have improved GREATLY.... I save $85 a month and we don't even miss it.... Title: Re: History Channel Post by: SSmoothie on December 09, 2012, 05:19:56 pm Most of them that have been on for a while are "jumping the shark". Pawn Stars has the kid saying hes been offered another job and wants 10% of the business. When he knows the store is going to be his in the future.

So, you can't a see Pawn Stars spinoff show or a Jr vs Sr coming(where have we seen this before?!?!) in the future? Its happy days all over again.... From Pawn Stars, to Cajun Pawn Stars, American Restoration, Counts Customs. I called the Counts Customs to my wife a long time before they spun off, all she did is laugh... Then it happened. You know they are officially being cancelled when that librarian rare book chick gets her own show hunting for rare books in casinos!! Although, she is kind of cute if you like librarians and I would watch a couple of episodes just to see a little more of her! Happy Days to Mork and Mindy, Laverne and Shirley, Joni Loves Chachi... Welcome to the 70's all over again. |
